There are such a large number of reasons why it’s not alright for white ladies to shake styles generally worn by dark ladies, including Afros, braids (actually no, not French braids), dreadlocks, and baby hair. Black hair is not simply hair.
There’s history and connection fixing to these styles that can’t be disregarded, a chronicled legacy perpetually connected to the continuous social leftovers of servitude and institutional prejudice.
A white individual who wears these styles releases that connection and transforms black hair into a curiosity, a farce, an unobtrusive type of black-face.
