Whether your mom wants to spend her special day outdoors, brunching and relaxing, or being active, there are hundreds of ways to spend Mother’s Day in beautiful San Diego. Here’s just a few options to choose from that will make your mom feel even more loved this Mother’s Day, May 10:

Balboa Park–Perfect for moms who want to spend the day outside while still enjoying a relaxing day. Start your morning with brunch at The Prado, where you can enjoy a Champagne Buffet Brunch featuring omelets, a pancake station, a chocolate fountain, and more. Once you’ve had your fill of mimosas and omelets, explore beautiful Balboa Park and be sure to check out the free Sunday Organ Concert at Spreckels Organ Pavilion, which features one of the world’s largest outdoor pipe organs. Among the many other activities happening at Balboa Park, is an Art Glass Guild Show and Patio Sale in Spanish Village Art Center, BEERology at the San Diego Museum of Man, and the Floral Show of the San Diego Epiphyllum Society in Casa del Prado.

Flower Fields–On the last day of the season at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch®, give Mom 50 acres of extraordinary and colorful flowers, rather than just a bouquet. This outing is perfect for children and adults, and you’ll get to see the ranch in full bloom on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Girls on the Go Half Marathon–If your mom loves staying active and is always on the move, whether she’s running miles or running errands, this May 9 half-marathon is the perfect way to work off your Mother’s Day brunch–before you even eat it. This event is designed especially for women, so bring your sister, your girlfriends or your daughter, and of course, your mom. As you run, you’ll enjoy waterfront views along Mission Bay and can choose to run or walk the half-marathon, 10k or 5k.

Kayak tours–Take mom on an adventure and kayak around either La Jolla or Coronado on this two-hour tour. Even if you are a San Diego native, this is an experience you won’t want to miss. Choose to kayak La Jolla and the seven caves, or take the urban kayak tour along San Diego’s downtown skyline and beneath the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. This activity is perfect for adults, and kids age 3 and above. No experience is necessary to join in on the fun. If water activities aren’t Mom’s thing, you can also rent bikes and tour La Jolla, Coronado or downtown.

Girl Power: Honoring Women in Music–The San Diego Symphony pays tribute to women in music this Mother’s Day at Copley Symphony Hall. Conducted by Ken-David Masur, the program will feature music that is either written by a woman or depicts a feminine character. At the end of the show all moms will receive a token of appreciation.
