Allied
American University has great news for members of the Navy and Marine Corps! It
was confirmed by the office of United States Senator Kay Hagan, a member of the
Senate Armed Services Committee, that Navy and Marine Corps leaders have made a
change on proposals submitted earlier this month regarding the funding of the
Tuition Assistance (TA) program. On Thursday, at an Armed Services Committee
hearing, General James Amos, Commandant of the Marine Corps, and Admiral
Jonathan Greenert, Chief of Naval Operations, said the Marine Corps and Navy, would
fund TA at 100 percent.
“We’re delighted that we can continue to offer men and women of these two branches the opportunity to earn their college diplomas from an accredited institution like ours. At Allied American University we pride ourselves with being a military-focused university, and are excited to continue to help members of the Navy and Marine Corps move towards graduation. Our goal is that AAU can play a role in helping our military students graduate, get their next promotion, and successfully transition out into the civilian world with employment.” said Lindsay Oglesby, Chief Enrollment Management Officer for Allied American University.
The plan
brought forth from proposed budgets on March 4th was to cut TA for
both the Navy and Marines by passing 25% of costs to the servicemembers. This
would have shifted a big portion of the financial burden back onto the members
of both branches, an idea that received immediate resistance from many U.S.
Senators.
This is great
news for AAU’s current students who are members of the Navy and Marine Corps…

Admiral
Greenert was quoted saying that funding Tuition Assistance “is a great return
on investment.” Think about all that a certificate or degree can do for your
current military career, as well as the doors that it can open if you decide to
return to civilian life… A military promotion often comes with an increase in
pay. This news potentially means more money to your bank account, courtesy of
the Navy and Marine Corps. So what is holding you back? The sooner you
get started, the sooner you can graduate and move up in rank!
