To celebrate our hosts and the 50 years of the Grateful Dead building community on the road, we’ve created a VIP ‘Fare Thee Well’ experience for one lucky fan and their guest:

As a grand prize winner, you will receive two VIP backstage passes to Fare Thee Well and the opportunity to be Bill’s special guests for the sold-out Chicago show. Sponsor. The “Airbnb Grateful Dead Essay Contest” (“Contest”) sponsor is Airbnb, Inc., 888 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94103 (“Sponsor”). This contest is not sponsored by Dayglo Ventures LLC (“Dayglo”).

How to Enter. Enter from 05/29/15 at 12:00:01 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) through 06/18/15 at 11:59:59 p.m. CT. (1) Visit blog.airbnb.com and locate the blog post about the Contest. (2) Follow the instructions to submit your entry form with all requested information and provide your answer to the following question (in 150 words or less) to be judged by our panel of judges as described in the Winner Selection rule below:

Why do you deserve to hang backstage with Bill during Fare Thee Well in Chicago?

Essay/Answer Requirements. Answers must: (a) be in English and a maximum of 150 words, (b) comply with Airbnb’s Terms of Service and User Conduct guidelines, (c) be entrant’s original work, not previously submitted in any promotion or displayed publicly, (d) not violate the rights of any other party, including but not limited to intellectual property rights or rights of privacy/publicity, and (e) not contain any content which (i) constitutes advertising or commercial content for any party other than Airbnb, (ii) endorses/promotes illegal or harmful activity, or (iii) is violent, profane, vulgar, obscene, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable or inconsistent the image of Airbnb, Dayglo, or the Grateful Dead. Airbnb reserves the right to disqualify any submission that violates these prohibitions or that Airbnb deems inappropriate for any reason, in Airbnb’s sole discretion. You represent and warrant that your submission does not make unauthorized use of, or violate, any rights of any third party, and that, if necessary, you can provide proper permissions in a form acceptable to Airbnb. In the event that we receive two or more essays that are substantially identical, only the first one received will be eligible.

Eligibility. To enter, you must be 21 years old, and a legal resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Directors, officers, employees, parents, subsidiaries, equity holders, affiliates and agents of Airbnb, Dayglo, or the Grateful Dead and the members of their immediate families or households, are not eligible to participate. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an entrant, entrant will be deemed to be the authorized account holder of the email address provided at the time of entry. Sponsor’s determinations as to eligibility are final and binding.

Winner Selection. A panel of judges will collaborate to select one (1) Grand Prize winner and three (3) First Prize winners based on the following criteria:

50% – Originality and creativity of the submission. Does it surprise and delight us?

30% – Best expression of the theme, “Belong Anywhere”?

20% – Quality of expression. Is it well-written?

The decision of the judges is final and binding.

Winner Notification/Validation. The winner will be notified on or about 06/23/15 using contact information provided at time of entry. The winner and his/her guests may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release and/or a publicity release where permitted by law, as well as provide information necessary for compliance with any applicable tax laws. Failure to comply within 72 hours may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner.

License & Media Interviews. By entering, you grant Airbnb, Dayglo and the Grateful Dead an unrestricted, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to reproduce, distribute, transmit, publish, display, broadcast or otherwise use your submission, with or without modifications, in any media, whether now existing or later developed, for any purpose. To the extent allowed by applicable law, you waive any “moral rights” relating to your submission, consent to publication of your submission in any manner which might otherwise be deemed to constitute a violation of any applicable moral rights, and further agree that Airbnb, Dayglo and the Grateful Dead may use (or not use) your name, likeness, photo, and/or geographical and biographical information in connection with your submission.

Prizes.

One (1) Grand Prize, consisting of the following, is available:

Two (2) VIP passes to the Grateful Dead “Home of Fare Thee Well” concert from July 3-July 5, 2015, including two (2) backstage meet-and-greet passes to meet Bill Kreutzmann.

Double-occupancy accommodations with an Airbnb host as selected by Airbnb in Chicago, IL from July 3-July 6, 2015.

$1,200 USD cash to be used for travel or any other purpose.

Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $4,200 USD.

The meet-and-greet will be scheduled on one of the concert dates to accommodate Bill Kreutzmann’s schedule. No responsibility is assumed for any cancellation or postponement of the concert or the meet-and-greet, or for any other events beyond Airbnb’s control; if the concert and/or meet-and-greet does not take place, the remainder of the prize will be awarded as the complete prize. VIP passes to the Grateful Dead Concert are for admission only. The winner is responsible for all transportation, food and other per diem costs and other expenses, as well as for possessing all necessary ID and other documents necessary for travel and paying all related costs.  The Airbnb Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (both available at www.airbnb.com/terms) apply to account creation, any user’s relationship with Airbnb, and the stay at an Airbnb listing.

Three (3) First Prizes areavailable: two (2) general admission passes to the Grateful Dead “Home of Fare Thee Well” concert from July 3-5, 2015. Approximate retail value is $2,100 per pass.

General admission passes to the Grateful Dead Concert are for admission only. Transportation, parking, and other expenses are not included.

General Prize Conditions.  If actual value is less than advertised value, the difference will not be awarded. If a winner declines to accept prize, prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner, time permitting. Each winner is responsible for payment of any taxes due as a result of acceptance of prize, as well as for all other expenses or costs not expressly listed above, as well as any incidental or personal expenses. No substitution, transfer or cash redemption of the prize is permitted, even if part of the prize is not used, except by Airbnb in its sole discretion.

Airbnb may conduct a background check on the winners to confirm eligibility and compliance with these rules. By entering, you agree to cooperate reasonably with any such background check. Failure to cooperate may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. If a background check reveals that a potential winner or potential guest has engaged in conduct that could damage the reputation or business of Airbnb, the potential winner or potential guest may be disqualified and the prize may be awarded to analternate winner, time permitting. The potential winner and guests shall strictly abide by any rules and procedures set forth by Airbnb and Dayglo in connection with the Prize. In addition, engaging in any inappropriate or illegal conduct during any prize-related events may result in removal from the premises where the event is occurring.

General Liability Release. By entering, you release Airbnb, Dayglo, and the Grateful Dead and each of their respective affiliated companies, equity holders and all of their employees, officers and directors, agents, or heirs, from any liability whatsoever, on any theory, and waive all claims and causes of action arising from or related to this Contest and agree to indemnify such parties against all claims and expenses arising from your or your guest’s violation of these rules, negligence or intentional wrongdoing.

Interpretations and Disputes. Participants agree to be bound by these Rules and all decisions of the judges, which are finaland binding. Any disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, and shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco, California.

Miscellaneous. Airbnb is not responsible for computer or network problems or other submission errors that result in late or inadmissible entries. If any terms or provisions of these Rules are held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, void, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Airbnb may suspend, modify or terminate the Contest if it believes, in its sole discretion, that malfunction, error, disruption, or damage is impairing or will impair the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, in which case the Prize will be awarded among the eligible entries received that were unaffected by the problem, if possible.
