Some call Ireland the Emerald Isle and others call Dublin’s tech community “Silicon Docks,” but to us, it’s our new second home. Today we opened our first-ever international office, located in downtown Dublin. We already have nearly a dozen people working hard to bring New Relic’s awesome customer experience to more people in our Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and we expect to hire another 38 people in Dublin in the coming months.

We couldn’t help but want to announce to the world in celebration of this epic moment and we were humbled and honored to have a member of Ireland’s Cabinet, Minister of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, hold a press conference at New Relic’s new EMEA headquarters. Reporters from RTE- Ireland’s National Public Service Broadcaster, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent and two radio broadcasters attended the meeting where Minister Bruton announced 132 new jobs in Ireland among five fast-growth companies that range from biotech to financial services software. A shout out to Ireland Development Agency (IDA) for all their guidance and support in helping us get our office established in Dublin!

Our office is definitely in the mix of things here in Dublin. From our fifth floor, we have a 180-degree view of the historic downtown area. Across the street is Trinity College, founded in 1592, which Americans may recognize the library from the Harry Potter movies. From the window, we have a great view of the Google office building, and at our doorstep is Dublin’s most tempting shopping district.

Here’s another synchronicity telling us we are in the right place at the right time: we noticed that across our 80,000 active customer accounts, we monitor 3 million applications each day. That number, strangely enough, is equivalent to the 3 million pints of Guinness that are brewed every day at the St. James’s Gate brewery in Dublin. Nice!

Whether you are in Dublin, Latin America or Russia, without a doubt, the data nerd movement is a global one. There are some 18 million developers worldwide, which some say will become 24 million over the next five years. Modern software is coming into its own with millions of web apps and, now, mobile apps proliferating in the various app stores. And we can’t forget analytics, which is poised to make data nerds into data heroes for the business. It’s a time like no other.

So lift your glass today and be part of the New Relic lore!
