Louisville Bats 4, Toledo Mud Hens 1 (box)
Buck Farmer cruised through the early innings, but ultimately gave up three runs on eight hits in just five innings of work. He only struck out two, and saw his season-long ERA rise to 4.86 in his fifth loss of the year. Louisville’s Tim Adleman held the Mud Hens offense in check, scattering five hits over seven innings. J.D. Martinez had one of those hits, and is batting .310 in his rehab assignment. Dixon Machado scored the lone run of the game for Toledo.

St. Lucie Mets 4, Lakeland Flying Tigers 2 (box)
In the completion of a game that was suspended from Sunday, the Flying Tigers managed eight hits but went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The loss was their third in a row to St. Lucie. Catcher Tim Remes led the way with a pair of hits for Lakeland, and Ross Kivett reached base three times. Wade Hinkle scored both of the Flying Tigers’ runs. A.J. Ladwig threw seven innings after play resumed on Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 4, St. Lucie Mets 1 (F/7) (box)
Ismael Salgado had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for Lakeland to salvage a doubleheader split against the Mets. Salgado’s two-run triple (his first of the season) opened the scoring in the fifth, and the Flying Tigers added a run in the seventh before St. Lucie scored off reliever Jairo Labourt in the bottom of the inning. Endrys Briceno got the start for Lakeland and threw four shutout innings, but walked four to just two strikeouts.

Lake County Captains 2, West Michigan Whitecaps 1 (F/12) (box)
The Whitecaps managed six hits and six walks, but their lone run of the game scored when Cam Gibson advanced from first to third on an errant pickoff throw, then scampered home on a wild pitch. Otherwise, it was a LOBster fest for both teams, who left a combined 19 runners on base before Lake County scored a run off Whitecaps reliever Adenson Verastegui in the top of the 12th. Derek Hill’s double was the Whitecaps’ lone extra base hit; Hill finished with two hits and a steal.

Connecticut Tigers 13, Vermont Lake Monsters 1 (box)
The Tigers offense exploded for 13 runs on 16 hits against Vermont pitching, scoring in all but two innings of their blowout win. Four different Tigers had three-hit games, and three players — Will Savage, Cole Bauml, and Austin Athmann — homered for Connecticut. Savage and Athmann led the way with three RBI apiece, while Bauml and shortstop prospect Anthony Pereira had two RBI each. In all, eight of their 16 hits went for extra bases. Starter Alfred Gutierrez did his part with four shutout innings, and reliever Emanuel Chavez earned the win with two scoreless frames of his own.
