Baseball-reference.com is a wonderful resource for any baseball fan, but particularly for any baseball writer. I probably do a couple of dozen searches per day there, and yes, I have sponsored some pages so that I support the site.
Idly flipping through today, I thought I'd check out the Cubs' most recent trade with all the other teams. I've arranged these in chronological order from the most recent deal made. The only rule to make this list: the deal had to involve players on both sides (bb-ref also lists outright purchases or waiver deals where only one player switched teams). Also excluded are deals where the only return was "future considerations" or a player to be named later (if there was a PTBNL in a deal involving other players, it's included).
In some cases the Cubs and other teams have traded quite recently, and frequently (the Rangers come to mind as a recent, frequent trade partner; three deals with them since July 2012). In other cases, it's been a long time. You'll remember some of these deals fondly. Others, not so much. It's been more than a decade since the Cubs have traded with the Astros, Cardinals, Blue Jays or Angels.
