Islamic State has warned of repeated attacks in Bangladesh and beyond until rule by sharia, Islamic law, is established, saying in a video last week’s killing of 20 people in a Dhaka cafe was merely a glimpse of what is to come.
“What you witnessed in Bangladesh … was a glimpse. This will repeat, repeat and repeat until you lose and we win and the sharia is established throughout the world,” said a man identified as Bangladeshi fighter Abu Issa al-Bengali, in the video monitored by SITE intelligence site.
Bangladesh has rejected the Islamic State’s claim of responsibility for the Friday attack and blamed it on a domestic militant group.

Far more weighty in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion would be two factors Comey did not cite at all in his presentation: (a) Congress’s purpose in criminalizing the grossly negligent mishandling of classified information, and (b) the harm actually done to the United States which, viewed from the perspective of the intelligence community underwritten by 50 billion American taxpayer dollars annually, was surely immense.
Survey: Canadians regretting Muslim refugees, believe mainstream Islam promotes violence
According to a new government survey to be released this week, the majority of those surveyed indicated their belief that Muslim immigrants hold “fundamentally different values” (including on the issue of women’s rights) and that “mainstream Islam promotes violence”. Attitudes of participants are already being dismissed as “Islamophobic”.
The Toronto Star titled their account of the story: “Ontario facing ‘epidemic of Islamophobia’ survey finds”. The article did not discuss possible reasons for the attitude of Ontarians, which just may be based on real occurrences with real victims. Some examples: i) Sweden has now become the rape capital of the world; ii) a thousand women were sexually assaulted in Germany as the migrant rape crisis worsens; iii) the 70,000 crimes committed or attempted by migrants in Germany, iv) the declaration by the Islamic State that they have infiltrated the refugees and will continue to do so.

Children’s character Curious George observes Ramadan
The beloved American children’s book character Curious George is breaking fast for Ramadan this year — with chocolate-covered bananas, of course.
The just-released children’s book “It’s Ramadan, Curious George” celebrates the Muslim holiday, teaching kids about the sacred month.
US author Hena Khan “wanted to focus on the celebratory aspects” of Ramadan, so George attends family gatherings and accompanies his friend Kareem to a mosque to put together charity baskets, she told AFP.
A writer of Pakistani origin from Rockville, Maryland, Khan has already written two children’s books about Islam, “but there’s something different about having Curious George, a mainstream, well-known, iconic character recognize your tradition and make you feel included.”
North Korea says US sanctions on Kim Jong Un are ‘declaration of war’
The move by the US was described as “the worst hostile act” against the country in a statement issued by Pyongyang’s foreign ministry carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.
The US Treasury Department imposed the sanctions on the North Korean leader and 10 other senior officials on Wednesday. They are set to affect property and other assets within US jurisdiction.
It was the first time that North Korean officials have been blacklisted by the US over human rights violations.

Google reveals plans to put ‘eyes in machines’ as digital surveillance fears reach boiling point
The tech giant has just revealed plans to purchase a French firm called Moodstocks which builds software capable of working out what’s happening in a photo – a trick called image recognition.
This buyout is likely to conclude within weeks, although it’s not known exactly how much Google paid to buy the company.
“Ever since we started Moodstocks, our dream has been to give eyes to machines by turning cameras into smart sensors able to make sense of their surroundings,” the French firm wrote.
Google said it would use this system to help identity pictures so they can be easily found through a search engine.
