I'm looking for a tool that is used to auto register accounts on Buddypress and auto pings those accounts on a daily basis.
I have a website where I installed buddypress 6 months ago, but I did not secure it. I ended up with 18,000 new users. I have since secured the site and have stopped all of these spam accounts from being setup.
My biggest problem now is getting rid of the automated traffic that this tool generates. The tool seems to be pinging several different pages, checking the status of the users account and attempting to login. I believe this tool is sending this traffic everyday for all 18,000 previous user accounts. Even after 4 months and most of the traffic generating 404 errors, they keep pinging.
Simply blocking the IPs is not sufficient in this case. I've set up a firewall to handle the more abusive pinging, but can't prevent it all. My site keeps going down at least once per day. So I need to find all tools that have this capability so that I can remove my site from their database.
