Three crashes in Bingham County area kept law enforcement officers busy on Wednesday.

The most serious incident occurred on Interstate 15 near Blackfoot around 1 p.m.

State police say Brandon Nightengale, 22, of Lynnwood, Wash., was driving south in a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup when he went off the left shoulder of the road. He overcorrected the vehicle, which then struck a Penske truck and trailer — driven by Meridian resident Thomas Felzien, 54 — and rolled.

Nightengale was transported by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot; efforts to obtain information about his condition failed on Wednesday. His passenger, Pocatello resident Wesley Olsen, 31, was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. He was listed in critical condition, according to hospital officials.

State police also responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 39 near Blackfoot on Wednesday morning.

They say Mayra Flores, 23, of Canoga Park, Calif., was driving north in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix when she tried to turn left toward an auto body repair shop and was struck from behind by a 2001 Lexus, driven by Hector Rojas, 20, of Blackfoot.

The incident was reported as an injury crash, but no one was transported to the hospital, according to dispatchers.

Bingham County sheriff’s deputies also responded to an incident involving a vehicle that went into the Snake River on Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Craig T. Rowland said a GMC truck went into the river in the Firth area. The adult male driver was able to get out and no injuries were reported.

Additional details about that incident weren’t available on Wednesday night.
