Last night was the world premiere for The Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm‘s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which took place at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood
Attending the Rogue One red carpet premiere were cast and crew members from the film – Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Gareth Edwards (director), Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, Simon Emanuel (producers), John Knoll, Jason McGatlin (executive producers) and Michael Giacchino (composer).
Among the special guests included J.J. Abrams, Christian Bale, Aisha Tyler, Elizabeth Banks, Storm Reid, Mayim Bialik, Terry Crews, Donald Faison, Nathan Fillion, Moby, Chris Hardwick, Laurie Hernandez, Simon Kinberg, Jaime King, Rachael Leigh Cook, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Breckin Meyer, Rene Russo, Ty Simpkins, Kevin Smith, Milo Ventimiglia, Wil Wheaton, Rainn Wilson, Steve Yedlin, Micah Fowler, Kyla Kenedy, Ariel Winter, Miles Brown, Carly Hughes, and Ewan McGregor.
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
Felicity Jones leads the cast as Jyn Erso alongside Mads Mikklesen who plays her father, Galen Erso. Diego Luna stars as Captain Cassian Andor with Donnie Yen as the blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen as his heavily armored best friend Baze Malbus, Alan Tudyk as the droid K-2SO, Riz Ahmed as the Rebel pilot Bodhi Rook, plus Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben Mendelsohn as the film’s main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla,” “Monsters”) directed “Rogue One,” the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and is slated for a December 16, 2016 release.
