Let me just start by saying I love Oprah, anytime I get a chance to share her greatness I just smile, she’s my idol. Ok, now on to the news… In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, Teavana, Starbucks and Oprah Winfrey have come together to create Teavana Oprah Chai and proceeds go to charity!
Teavana Oprah Chai will be available on April 29 at Starbucks and Teavana stores in the U.S. and Canada. The chai blend was developed through Oprah Winfrey’s collaboration with Teavana’s leading teaologist Naoko Tsunoda.
Oprah’s personal tea passion and the deep expertise of Teavana have resulted in a distinctive blend featuring a bold infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves, blended with loose-leaf black tea and rooibos. Customers will be able to enjoy the blend as a handcrafted latte or loose-leaf tea.
Teavana Oprah Chai will be sold in Starbucks and Teavana stores across the U.S. and Canada beginning April 29, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation to benefit educational opportunities for youth . The tea is described as a bold infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves, blended with loose-leaf black tea and rooibos. Arriving at the perfect chi blend was a process — one captured in the above behind-the-scenes videos of Oprah’s visit to Starbucks headquarters in Seattle.
“I was a little nervous coming in today,” Oprah admits in the video. “I woke up at 2:16 this morning thinking about choosing the best tea that would satisfy me and also satisfy all of our customers.”
Winfrey, a tea aficionado, said her taste runs toward the spicy, robust and fuller-bodied. And to that end, “Oprah Chai” is a blend of tea infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves, and will be sold in tins or as prepared tea lattes. Oprah’s new brew will be sold at Starbucks and Teavana locations worldwide. And this is what we’re loving the most! For each Teavana “Oprah Chai” product sold, Starbucks will make a .25 cent donation to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation to benefit youth education. So here’s yet another product that you can purchase and give back at the same time! Way to go O, we can’t wait to try it!
