If Not Now, When?
This year started with so many good intentions to many big dreams and plans, but something happened the day after I created my vision board. I forgot the one most important thing about make plans, ACTING on them. I made a thousand excuses…
“I’m working ALL day, and too tired to…”
“I’ll do it next month when things calm down at work…”
“It’s too late now…”
“It’s too much work… I don’t have time…”
“I don’t know how to start…”
and I’ve said so many more to convince myself now just isn’t the time. But if now isn’t the right time, when will be the “right” time? And how can I still be thinking this way well after I’ve been successfully raising two kids while balancing a flourishing career. There was a time I said, we weren’t ready for kids, but we are making it work.
I even drill this logic into the kids, why wait to do your homework, do it now so you can enjoy what you want later.
But I haven’t been able to take my own advice in a LONG TIME. In fact, the list of things that I want to do and accomplish is so long I can’t imagine getting everything done.
So starting tomorrow, I’m going to STOP making excuses and action DO SOMETHING, even if it’s one thing.
* Quote from the journal, “Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You.”
Do you find yourself putting your goal to the side, because life keeps getting in the way?
