Separate municipal school systems aren't a sure thing for Shelby County suburbs, but Germantown is moving forward with plans to implement its own new system, including the lease of office space and the hire of nearly 40 government employees.
The Commercial Appeal reports the suburb's alderman gave Mayor Sharon Goldsworthy approval to sign a $12,000 per month office lease at the Carrefour at Kirby Woods Shopping Center, which will house the headquarters for the Germantown Municipal School District.
