Manchester City have won three of the last five trips to Old Trafford and four of the last nine league meetings at Manchester United’s home ground.

Below we will relive each of the Blues four recent wins at Old Trafford.

Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City (February 2008)

Much was made of the Premier League scheduling this fixture on the 50th Anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster. But Manchester City supporters showed incredible class and dignity in honoring the tragic events of 1958 and the Blues under Sven Goran Eriksson did the club’s first league double over Manchester United since the 1969-70 season with a 2-1 victory. New signing Benjani and Darius Vassell provided the Manchester City goals both in the first half. A Michael Carrick strike late in stoppage time spoiled Joe Hart’s potential clean sheet but it was too little, too late for the Red Devils.

Manchester United 1-6 Manchester City (October 2011)

The most famous of score lines in Blues history was a match which announced the arrival of Manchester City as an English powerhouse. The reality of this game is that the Red Devils were the better side for long periods of the match, but Mario Balotelli’s double on either side of halftime had given the Blues a 2-0 lead. Jonny Evans being sent off allowed City up a man to rip open United after minute 60, with three goals coming especially late on in the 6-1 triumph. At season’s end the Blues would win the title on goal difference over United - this match provided a net GD of 10 for the Blue and essentially decided the title.

Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City (April 2013)

The Red Devils sported a 15 point lead over the second place Blues in the Premier League table entering this match, but goals from James Milner and Sergio Aguero gave Manchester City a victory that felt good but didn’t prevent Roberto Mancini from being sacked after losing the FA Cup Final to Wigan a month later.

Manchester United 0-3 Manchester City (March 2014)

A comprehensive effort by the Blues which began with an Edin Dzeko goal inside a minute sent Manchester City on its way to the Premier League title and David Moyes United side spiraling toward 7th place and a manager sacking. Dzeko scored twice and Yaya Toure was rampant throughout the match, ripping through the Red Devils defense at will. Toure got a just reward for his efforts with a goal near the death to put a bow on a 3-0 victory after a performance so dominating it made the 6-1 win of two seasons earlier seem highly competitive.

In 2015 Manchester City made two trips to Old Trafford and lost 4-2 in April toward the end of the 2014-15 season and drew 0-0 in the 2015-16 campaign.
