Birmingham Lord Mayor 2013-14

Celebrations to mark Trafalgar Day will take place in Birmingham on Sunday 27 October to mark the anniversary of Lord Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar 1805.

The ceremony will commence at 10.30 am at Nelson’s statue at the Bullring with music from The Band of the West Midlands Fire Service, who will be performing as participants assemble.  These include HMS Forward, Sea Cadets, Scouts and Girl Guides.

A wreath laying ceremony will take place at 11.20 am.  The Lord Mayor of Birmingham will lay a wreath as will representatives from the following organisations:

Naval Officer for Royal Navy

The Birmingham Nautical Club

Sea Cadet Corps and Sea Scouts

The Nelson Society

The Birmingham Civic Society

The Birmingham Society

Birmingham St George’s Day Association

Girl Guides and Scouts

At the conclusion of the wreath laying there will be a Minute’s Silence and Last Retreat/Reveille played by a trumpeter/bugler from the Band.

The wreath laying will be followed by a parade at 11.40am which will proceed to Victoria Square where the Lord Mayor of Birmingham will take the salute.
