Molecular Genetic Data Generation, Analysis and Utilization in Animal Breeding

(5-25 March, 2013)

29th National Training Programme on Molecular genetic data generation, analysis and utilization in animal breeding during 5-25 March 2013 under the aegis of Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Animal Genetics and Breeding at Division of Dairy Cattle Breeding, National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (Haryana).

The DCB Division has been recognized by ICAR for the third consecutive Five Year Plan as Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Animal Genetics and Breeding (formerly known as Centre of

Advanced Studies in AG&B). An important mandate of this centre is to update the knowledge of

teachers and scientists in advanced areas of Animal Genetics and Breeding. After successfully

organizing 28 National Training Programmes on various aspects of AG&B, we wish to welcome

you for the 29th National Training Programme at this premier Institution.

Participants attending this training programme will have the opportunity of getting on-bench

practical training in different aspects of generation and analysis of animal genetic as well as

breeding data. Besides the practical sessions, lectures will also be delivered by invited subject

matter specialists on AnGR of India, Breeding strategies of dairy animals, Identification of

Molecular markers, SNPs, DNA Microarrays and their application in production, reproduction,

disease resistance and thermotolerance in farm animals, Computer packages for analysis of

animal breeding data, Bioinformatics, Public domain software, Information sources and

repository and data analysis etc. The participants are also required to deliver a talk on the topic

related to their present research work for effective interaction among faculty and participants.

Eligibility : This training programme is open to all those who are below 50 years of age and possess Ph.D./Master's degree in any branch of Animal Sciences preferably engaged in teaching and research in the areas of Animal Genetics and Breeding and Livestock Production.

Last date : Twenty five seats are available for programme and interested candidates should send their applications (as per prescribed format) to the Programme Coordinator latest by 24th January 2013 (Advance copy) and 31st January 2013 (through proper channel).

The selected candidates will be informed by 04th February 2013.

FEE : There is no fee for the training programme.
