BGG's Seth Worley as Doctor Who

Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con took over the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center for the weekend of February 7, 8 & 9. The event featured plenty of highly popular guests such as Doctor Who's Matt Smith, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus, Jon Bernthal, Michael Rooker and Steven Yeun, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, WWE Diva AJ Lee, television's Dean Cain and Robert Englund from the classic Nightmare on Elm Street film series. The event was packed with great guests, games, contests and plenty of excited guests, and though it's still early in the year, Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con should be remembered as one of the best conventions in all of 2014.

As with and Wizard World production, New Orleans Comic Con for 2014 was full of great actors and other pop culture icons for guests, and there were a number of artists, cosplay groups and other special organizations on hand as well, but the programming within the event can be what makes or breaks a fun show. Luckily, New Orleans Comic Con always had special events lined up for attendees starting on Friday with an extra nerdy speed dating experience for those looking to find love at the convention. The day also saw other great events such as a special Gremlins screening with actor Zach Galligan, a panel with WWE Diva AJ Lee and a Mario Kart 64 tournament for old school gamers. Saturday's events may have been even better and included a meet and greet event with the Green Power Ranger, Jason David Frank, a Dr. Who fan panel and a special one on one event with Marvel creator Stan Lee. Sunday has its share of good events as well including a meet and greet with the Mistress of the Dark, Elvira, the Wizard World Kids Costume Contest and more. There were plenty of other events not listed here, so that fans always had something to do at every hour of the great event. BGG also had the chance to attend a screening of Hero Story and chance to interview the film's producer Jus Riddick.

Cosplay is a huge part of any convention, and BioGamer Girl was there to cover the action. There were plenty of high quality costumes that closely mimicked their source materials and others that were simply outrageous. Some of our favorites included Mad Moxxi and Maya the Siren from Borderlands 2. Our own group of cosplayers from BioGamer Girl consisted of Amanda Dyar, Alissa Worley and Seth Worley as time-traveling zombie slayers Rochelle and Zoey from the Left 4 Dead series as well as Dr. Who. It seemed no matter where attendees were hanging around at during Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, there were always some great costumes to take in while having fun at the convention.

New Orleans is a city known for its great entertainment and delicious Cajun cuisine, so Comic Con fans had a chance to enjoy the finer aspects of the city when away from the convention center. New Orleans is always abuzz with the sounds of street musicians in the air as well as the smells of freshly cooked crawfish and jambalaya. Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con was a great event, but the venue also had a few drawbacks including the always annoying choices for travel while in the large city. The narrow, one-way streets of New Orleans are a nightmare for visitors to navigate, so public transportation is nearly mandatory when visiting the city. Once attendees made their way inside of Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con though, there was no way to not have fun at the event.  BioGamer Girl can't wait to attend another great Wizard World event, and we look forward to seeing you at the next one!
