From the Press Release
eSports Global Network (ESGN) today announced the inclusion and tracking of their ESGN Points which began on Jan. 1. With the official approval from their partners, all competitors in events related to ESL, GOM eXP and Gamefy will have their ESGN Points calculated via the ESGN database and displayed on the main website at ESGN.com. Visitors can find the latest standings of players and teams for StarCraft II, Dota 2 and League of Legends.

ESGN.com also features an annual schedule of upcoming events and results for past tournaments with an appendix of specific matches, players and prize-money. As a result, the visibility of major tournaments and profiles of professional players are improved on a global scale. The calendar contains specific details about the location of the tournaments, the organizers, dates and a direct link to a stream (when available).

In addition to the event calendar, fans can easily access the current standings of teams and single players on the front page. From global rankings to ESGN Points and ELO, everything can easily be reached and filtered. It's also possible to search directly for specific teams and players. The profiles contain many background details about the players, including their home country, preferred race or position in the game, and social media contact info. "Win/lose"-statistics show their overall results, while the "Match Record" contains any game a player participates in, including the information of the tournament, opponent and map they fought on.

ESGN Points - Emergence and benefit

The ESGN Points are a merit-based ranking system. Every player who participates in tournaments of ESGN's official partners has the opportunity to earn ESGN Points. All game titles that are covered by more than one of the partners will get their own ESGN Points standing. The system is used to reward the most consistent players and also shows off the highest achieving players in the world, with the possibility to compare each player.

ESGN ELO - Tell the difference

ESGN ELO represents the overall strength and skill of a single player. Each game that has been played in a tournament is used for calculation of the ESGN ELO. Whereas ESGN Points depends on the tournament class and the player's result, and shows off the ranking of the player in a global competition, ESGN ELO tells the player's skill in a single value.

ESGN introduces a cooperative ranking system algorithm among partner organizations from numerous regions, creating a level playing field to evaluate players and teams. This comprehensive point system allows ESGN to calculate separate achievements of players from major events into an overarching competition and weighted scoreboard. From start to finish, teams and players will have their achievements, roster changes and match records tracked and coordinated to the ESGN Points and ELO rankings.

ESGN will improve and expand this system in the future to become an integral way to gauge participation and achievement of competitors on a worldwide scale.
