Building Information Modelling software experts ENGworks and the University of Misiones, Argentina, are celebrating following the signing of a major Latin American deal.

ENGworks’ ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) cloud-based solution, YouBIM will be used in-conjunction with IBM Maximo on “one of Latin America’s Biggest Hydroelectric Plants”.

The 2,600 ft. (800 m2) long dam (which was not named by the article) will have the YouBIM facilities management platform implemented on its 35,000 maintainable assets, which record a “maximum annual power output of 20.000 TWh”.

IBM Maximo is the current CMMS product utilized for maintenance and some relevant data is partly within that system already. That data will be collected and organised for use in YouBIM, whereas the rest of the information will come from the creation of an as-built BIM model for Autodesk Revit.

The news follows a trial YouBIM pilot scheme on a maneuver station at the plant, which the facility operators were impressed by. Those operators are “very excited” to utilise the BIM for FIM solution, which they believe will faster access to their assets and their related data.

Last year, we reported on a similar cloud-collaboration story relating to the redevelopment of a courthouse.

YouBIM and IBM Maximo have been used together before, details of which can be viewed in the below video.
