Even though the ubiquity of smartphones has helped usher society into the digital age, one thing the devices don’t help with is if you need a physical copy of something. Sure, you can download a digital copy of your resume, and you can save copies of photos posted on social media channels, but if you needed that resume for an interview or wanted to put a picture in a frame for your desk, your smartphone isn’t going to get you anywhere. French startup Prynt is here to help — by splicing a smartphone case and a miniature printer, creating a device similar to a Polaroid camera.

The case is too bulky to act as your everyday smartphone protector, but it’s small enough to carry in your messenger or laptop bag; if you’re used to carrying a 3DS XL or hard sunglasses case around, you’ll likely feel right at home lugging the Prynt case. At the moment, it can print a photo in around 50 seconds, though Prynt says it’s going to shave 20 seconds off that number by replacing the current Bluetooth connection with a direct physical connection.
