If you know vintage bikes then you know what the Volare is if you don't I will explain. The Volare was only produced in 1977 and 1978. It was the second from the top in Schwinn's road bike line. The only bike above it was the made in Chicago Campagnolo equipped Schwinn Paramount. The Volare is often called the Japanese Paramount. It was made in Japan by Panasonic. It has a full Reynolds 531 frame and fork with Shimano dropouts. Instead of the Campagnolo equipped Paramount the Volare came with a first generation Shimano Dura Ace group.
This bike is a 25" frame. The actual frame dimensions are seat tube 62cm and the top tube 60cm both measurements center to center.
The bike has a full first generation Dura Ace group that includes the brakes, levers, headset, shifters, BB cable guide, bottom bracket, crankset, front derailleur, rear derailleur and hubs. Other parts include MKS Sylvan pedals with XL Christophe Special toe clips and leather straps, Nitto Technomic 120mm stem, Nitto Noodle bars (44cm), Cane creek hoods on the brake levers, Suntour 5 speed freewheel, Kalloy seat post and a vintage 70's Brooks Professional Saddle. The wheels are not original, but are very close to what should be on there. The good thing of that is a they are a brand new wheel build with less than 30 miles on them. They are low flange Dura Ace hubs (should be large to be correct) laced 3 cross with DT Swiss spokes laced to Velo Orange rims and they wear a set of Panaracer Pasela tires in 700x28mm.
I am now asking $500 plus shipping. It is ready to ride. I bought the bike and then completely overhauled all of the bearings (headset, BB, and both hubs) and then built it up with all new cables, housing, and a new chain.
