Transfer of federal lands to state hands splits Montanans, lawmakers
Montana State Sen. Jennifer Fielder believes that there is widespread support for the transfer of federal lands to the state, and is sponsoring a bill to specifically study such a transfer, but representatives of sportsmen and conservation groups question that there is such support, and on Feb. 16, the Montana Wilderness Association plans a rally outside the state Capitol to oppose any transfer of public lands to the state.

Utah Senate panel advances bill to set deadline on public lands transfer
The Utah Senate Natural Resources Committee voted 4-2 to advance legislation introduced by Sen. Jim Dabakis, D-Salt Lake City, that would set a June 30, 2016 deadline for the state's attorney general to file a lawsuit challenging the U.S. government's ownership of 32 million acres of land within the state's borders.…
