Montana project tops list for USFS's Forest Legacy Program
The U.S. Forest Service has ranked protection of 3,000 acres in the Haskill Basin in northwest Montana as the highest priority for funding under the agency's Forest Legacy Program, securing $7 million of the $17 million needed to buy development rights from F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber Co.

U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Wyoming trail jeopardizes Rails to Trails
In a ruling on a case appealed in Wyoming, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that government easements for railroad beds over public and private land in the West expired when the railroads went out of business and ownership of the easement reverted to the property owner, a decision that could have a considerable effect on the Rails to Trails program, which builds trails on former rail lines.

Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee seeks public input
The Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee, which is made up of the 11 federal agencies that work together to manage more than 15 million acres of public land in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, is inviting the public to a meeting in Jackson on March 24 to discuss a multitude of cross-jurisdictional and land management issues.
