fight with Guillain-Barré (GBS) syndrome, a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of  the peripheral nervous system.

Although Coach Sutton may not be on the sidelines, his passion for the game remains as strong as ever. A State Championship in high school in Virginia and NCAA appearances at VCU, Tulsa, Georgia and Kentucky led to a 9 year stint at TN Tech where he was 2nd all time in wins and 9th all time in the OVC victories.  Sutton came out of the J. D. Barnett/Tubby Smith coaching tree.

-Sutton recruited the current #2 scoring duo in NCAA in Kevin Murphy and Jud Dillard. Sutton also recuited PG Zac Swansey (UGA transfer & Georgia Stars player who led the Bulldogs to NCAA tournament) who leads the OVC in assists & steals.  Murphy leads the OVC in scoring while Dillard is 3rdand leads the league in rebounding.

-Tenn. Tech Jr. Jud Dillard notched his 1000 career point and Kevin Murphy exploded for 50 points on 21 shots in the victory over SIUE.  Two good players who are under the radar and led the Golden Eagles to the 2nd best record in school history in Sutton's last season.

"Obviously coming from the same coaching tree as Mike Sutton, we have known each other for 30 years.  Mike is a great friend.  We always love him talking to the players and sharing his knowledge and expertise not only with them but with us."  -Jeff Schneider
