The Hoyas look to spoil the Pirates’ NCAA Tournament hopes
Tuesday evening at the Prudential Center, the Georgetown Hoyas will visit the Seton Hall Pirates. Currently, these two teams find themselves in two very different situations.
Georgetown is currently 5-11 in Big East play, and essentially has no hopes of seeing the postseason unless they go on a run at Madison Square Garden and win the Big East Tournament.
The Pirates are trying to do everything they can to avoid playing on the first night of the Big East Tournament. There is currently a four-way tie for fourth place, and in many of the tie-breaker scenarios that play out, the Pirates would be the seventh seed and play Wednesday night. An easy way for Seton Hall to avoid this is to win out.
Additionally, Seton Hall is very much a bubble team right now. In the majority of bracket projections they are currently projected to be playing in Dayton in the First Four. Quite simply, a loss against Georgetown could have severe implications on their tournament resume.

Three-Point Preview
Status of Ismael Sanogo
In Saturday’s victory at DePaul, Seton Hall forward Ismael Sanogo re-aggravated his ankle sprain he suffered the last time the Pirates and Hoyas met up.
According to reports, it will be a game time decision if Sanogo plays Tuesday night. Whether he plays (not at 100%) or misses the game, it could be a golden opportunity for Georgetown’s big men to contribute more than usual.
Atmosphere
Seton Hall has had a hard time filling the Prudential Center this season, aside from their sellout against Villanova. Maybe since this will be senior night, and the last home game of the season, the crowd will be larger than it has been recently. Regardless of the crowd size, the Pirates will need to come out and create their own energy if necessary.
The Charity Stripe
Georgetown ranks 20th nationally in percentage of their points coming from the foul line, with 23.4% of their points coming from the charity stripe. Seton Hall, on the other hand, is one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the nation shooting 63.1% from the line. Interestingly enough, last time these two teams faced off, the Pirates’ outshot both their average and the Hoyas as they connected on 72% of free throws. Georgetown on the other hand shot 68%, there is a very good chance that this rematch will be close like the first meeting between these two squads, so free throws may be what decides the game.
