Evening reads for avid Big East fans.

Happy Thursday, Big East fans! Welcome to what should be the first edition of a consistent thread for you all to collect some evening reads for all things encompassing the Big East Conference. We're always open to new links and reads, so don't be shy about giving some in the comments section, as this certainly is not a master list of what's out there right now.

We will do our best to get a link up for just about every team. So, tailing off that last sentence, if you feel your school is being underrepresented, or (gasp) disrespected, please let us know about it!

Anyways, here's what we have today:

Brad Stevens suddenly leaves, Roosevelt Jones breaks a wrist and misses the season, the initial voyage through the Big East proves to be tougher than expected and a massive renovation of the historic facility is nearing completion. Now, just when it looks like things are returning to normal, coach Brandon Miller takes a medical leave of absence on the eve of preseason practice.

DePaul athletics is set to host two events on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18 to give the campus community and fans a first look at the 2014-15 Blue Demons. Seton Hall Pirates

NCAA clears Daisha Simmons to play for Seton Hall // SI.com

The NCAA has declared former Alabama guard Daisha Simmons eligible for this season at Seton Hall, head coach Tony Bozzell told Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press. The NCAA's decision ended a five-month ordeal, which saw Alabama come under scrutiny by the basketball world for its decision to reject Simmons' transfer.

Fresh off of a three-week training period, the St. John's cross country team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 10, for its first championship meet of the season, the 2014 Metropolitan Championships at historic Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. The Red Storm will be looking to improve upon its eighth-place finish out of 12 teams in last year's championship race and build upon its positive showing at last month's Br. John Doyle/Iona Meet of Champions also held at Van Cortlandt Park, St. John's home-away-from-home.

2014 Athletics Hall of Fame Class Announced // GoXavier.com

Xavier University Athletic Director Greg Christopher announced today that the university will induct five new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony held on Feb. 21 in the Duff Banquet Center at Cintas Center, prior to the 2 p.m. men's basketball game vs. Butler. The five will also be honored at halftime of the basketball game.
