(CP) - People in Nova Scotia could see their power bills go up over the next three years.

In a decision Tuesday, the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board cleared the way for increases of 1.3 per cent a year.

The Nova Scotia Power rate hikes would go into effect on Jan. 1.

Small industrial customers would see a 0.5 per cent increase, while medium-sized ones will see a hike of 1.6 per cent.
