BCL – Designer Christmas Gifts

It’s that time of year again and if you still have not done your Christmas shopping because (A) You work 24/7/365; (B) You can’t bring yourself to tread the malls for hours on end for something “special” at the risk of losing your sanity or (C) You don’t want the ordinary run of the mill Christmas gift and a badly knitted sweater with dancing reindeer and homemade jam just won’t do…then, this post is for you!

This year’s list is filled with options with which you can shower your loved ones! So without further ado – catalogued and alphabetised; because I am OCD (or CDO – as it should be) like that:

Arsty Phartsy

Everyone loves art… and it comes in so many wonderful forms…

Any creative at heart who has not lost the passion for colouring; even if they are pushing the other side of 40; will absolutely appreciate an Enchanted Forest colouring book and crayons from Takealot or Faithful to Nature. A perfect add on to this creative gift is a set of the beautiful Derwent Pencils from Herbert Evens.

Let’s face it, bare walls are no fun. Whether it’s for the home or the office, get inspired!

A gorgeous print from David Krut Projects – the arts, design and projects gallery

Wall vinyl’s from Dewaal Art for something a little different and unique

For the avid Instagramer, faceblocks are perfect for pics taken with a phone.

Something Beauty-full…

To spoil the ladies, any ladies from that very special one you just met that you want to take home to mom, your sister or even mom herself, the divine range of body products from Mies will earn you major brownie points. All natural and so understatedly glamorous, Mies will leave any lady feeling very loved and pampered at a price that won’t break the bank. Mies can also be found at Poetry stores around the country. Nice!

A beautiful piece of jewellery from We Heart This, all locally inspired, designed and crafted. I personally love the Silver Antler Necklace, nudge nudge wink wink.

Hmmm Hot Chocolate…

If you are a chocoholic like myself and come rain or shine; no matter the season; will take your poison in liquid format should the mood strike, then I can certainly recommend the Hot Chocolate from local Artisans Honest Chocolate. It’s raw, organic and you can most definitely drink it! While you’re at it, why not add the finishing touch to this gift with a gorgeous cup crafted by Urchin. And you know what the best thing about hot chocolate is? When it’s finished, you can have another! Who wouldn’t want that for Christmas?

Goodies & Gadgets and Goodies for your Gadgets…

Everyone has goodies and gadgets, and one needs something to put all this stuff into…so:

Whether its drinks for a party, make-up or just stuff that needs to be close by, a Lou Harvey, Mongoose  or Pepper Tree Bag will keep it all together with sassy style.

And for the trusty laptop, a Laptop bag from Tsonga of course. Can you say Nicely Organised Stuff?

For the budding Photographer, the gift of capturing those special moments is priceless. From Mother Russia with love, a Lomography Camera for quirky spontaneous snaps or a Polaroid Camera from the Exposure Gallery will go down a treat.

Let’s not leave out the Smart Phone Photographer…an Olloclip 4 in 1 Lens for the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus will get the job done rather nicely, i-Say. The Exposure Gallery cab help you out with this too!

House & Home

Last but not least, something for the abode…

Perfect for the entertainer… Outdoor party lights from Hoi Ploy and Cool Consol Jar kits to lighten the mood (Oh hat! I love these! For lights, a gorgeous floral centrepiece, organising stuff – pretty much anything!).

Who doesn’t need extra storage? Whether it’s in the kitchen, lounge or bathroom, these awesome Coke crates from Lunar will add some fun to any room.

Something to rest ones head on whilst reading a good book like Burchell’s Travels… some scatter cushions from Skinny Laminx , Design Team or my favourite Cape Town decor store Still Life, will do!

Tord Boontjie – Think Elegant, Chicly designed furniture, textiles, lighting and accessories. Looking for something custom and unique? Then you are in luck; as once off pieces is something they are totally into. My personal favourite, the Christmas Star to replace that old and tired angel. You can source Tord Boontjie products locally from Imagenius in Cape Town.

So, now you can relax with a glass of wine and hope that your family and friends have read this post and gotten you something stylish for Christmas too!
