Offensive line and defensive line are the two areas that Gus Bradley mentioned as potential positions to upgrade in free agency.
The Jaguars could add talent to their offensive and/or defensive lines through free agency, according to head coach Gus Bradley. On Wednesday, Bradley joined Jessica Blaylock and Ryan O'Halloran on 1010XL's "The Jag Wire" to discuss a variety of topics, but when it came to free agency the coach kept the focus on the trenches.
"Offensive line is an area that intrigues us and we'll take a look at the players available. There are some areas there that we could get better at." Bradley said. "Defensive line is always something you consider and anybody who can add to our rush and help us get pressure on the quarterback."
While the Jaguars are set at left tackle with 2013 first-round selection Luke Joeckel and say they are happy with Austin Pasztor as the right tackle of the future, additions on the interior are a must. The center position, in particular, will require an upgrade as stalwart Brad Meester elected to retire after 14 seasons with the Jaguars.
One potential upgrade on the interior is Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack who is expected to test the free agency market where he would likely receive a contract similar to the six-year, $49 million deal signed by Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil in 2011.
On the defensive line, the market will be decided by teams' ability to bring back the bigger names. Michael Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals and Michael Bennett of the Seattle Seahawks are among the possible top players on the market.
Free agency is scheduled to begin on March 11 with the Jaguars among the teams with the most available cap space to spend.
