We’re approaching the 15th series of Celebrity Big Brother. So, before we crown the next winner, vote for your favourite past winner below!

Jack Dee (2001)

On March 16 2001, the famously miserable comedian won the first series of Celebrity Big Brother, seeing off five other celebrities. The series lasted just eight days and was created in order to raise money for charity.

Mark Owen (2002)

The Take That singer lasted ten days in the house and was crowned the winner on November 29 2002. As with the first series, proceeds from series two of Celebrity Big Brother went to charity.

Mark ‘Bez’ Berry (2005)

The Happy Mondays maracas shaker won the first series in which the celebrities were paid to take part. ‘Bez’, who won with 54 per cent of the public vote, admitted after leaving the house that, “It [taking part in Celebrity Big Brother] has pulled me right out of [financial] trouble, that’s something I will be grateful for.”

Chantelle Houghton (2006)

Chantelle Houghton entered the Celebrity Big Brother house as a nobody and left three weeks later slightly less of a nobody. Houghton had originally auditioned for the non-celebrity version of the show, but was instead asked by producers to feature on the fourth series of Celebrity Big Brother, posing as the singer in a fictional band.

Shilpa Shetty (2007)

The Bollywood actress and model prevailed in this highly controversial series, which saw a number of housemates accused of racist bullying.

Ulrika Jonsson (2009)

Following the allegations of racist bullying in the fifth series, Celebrity Big Brother disappeared from our screens for two years (with the exception of Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, which aired on E4 in 2008). When it returned, however, the British public were less interested than ever before. Only a nightly average of 3.3 million viewers watched this series (compared with 5.2 million for the first series), which was won by Swedish TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson.

Alex Reid (2010)

The mixed martial arts fighter is (quite) famous for being the ex-husband of model Katie Price (Reid was the girlfriend of Price at the time of his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother). This was the final series to be aired on Channel 4.

Paddy Doherty (2011)

Irish Traveller Paddy Doherty became famous after appearing on Channel 4’s My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. He won the first series of Celebrity Big Brother following the show’s move to Channel 5.

Denise Welch (2012)

The soap star and Loose Women panellist won this forgettable series. A nightly average of just 2.6 million viewers tuned in, at the time the lowest average ever… worse was to come for Channel 5, however.

Julian Clary (2012)

Julian Clary became the second comedian to win Celebrity Big Brother, but this series is more notable because it was the second Celebrity Big Brother to be broadcast in 2012 – the first time that two series of the show had aired in the same year. Somewhat inevitably, ratings dipped to a nightly average of just 2.2 million viewers.

Rylan Clark (2013)

X Factor-reject Rylan Clark won this series and secured himself a job in the process – he is now the presenter of Channel 5 spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

Charlotte Crosby (2013)

It seems that appearing on another reality show stands you in good stead for Celebrity Big Brother. Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby joined Paddy Doherty and Rylan Clark as a winner of the show with previous reality TV experience. It’s almost as if living one’s life in front of the camera is a skill.

Jim Davidson (2014)

This was the series that resurrected Celebrity Big Brother – as well as the career of winner Jim Davidson. A nightly average of 3.07 million viewers watched this series – the most since the show moved to Channel 5.

Gary Busey (2014)

Plenty of controversy – Audley Harrison and Kellie Maloney clashed over the latter’s transexuality; there were claims that subsequent winner Gary Busey, who suffered brain damage after a motorcycle accident in 1988, was being exploited – but viewing figures slumped to an all-time low. It remains to be seen whether the new series, which starts on Wednesday January 7, will turn things around.
