Dubrovnik is one of the most famous and most appealing spots for tourists from Croatia and from around the globe to come and visit. It is hard to decide whether it is more interesting by day or by night. However, let us look more closely at what Dubrovnik nightlife looks like.

When the night is falling, you can almost feel that adventurous spirit coming all over the city when everyone starts looking for that memorable excitement of having the world under your feet. And Dubrovnik gives you that extraordinary, one of a kind feeling, and seduces you with its special atmosphere that pulls you in its mysterious fantasy.

The City (the part of Dubrovnik that is surrounded by a wall) is the heart for the majority of all gatherings, formal and informal, as it has always been since one can remember. The city nightlife starts each night when the sun goes down. People walk along the main street in the city. This street is called Stradun. Now, this is sort of a traditional walk before the party gets started. After the walk, people usually go to bars and warm up with few drinks. If you go there, you might see that the bars and the pubs in the city are kind of smaller and more intimate than you might expect. Nevertheless, they might be small, but there are so many of them you can’t count them all. Nearly every street has several pubs or bars. Naturally, some of them are more attractive and famous than others. As we’ve mentioned above, the pubs and bars are pretty small, so the majority of the people usually stand on the street waiting for the waiter to come and serve them. They usually work until 1 AM. Still, there are few owners that have found a solution to privately keep the place opened until they are warned by the police.

The most famous pubs and bars are: Pub Karaka (or Irish Pub) – it is really nothing special, but a place full of British tourists and those who love beers and watching football on the television. Then, the Cervantes Tapas Bar – it is a small and cozy family bar where you can enjoy good talks, good cheese and some great wines. And the most famous bar is, of course, Buza. It is located in the City and offers a view on the sea. You will have to be prepared to spend a lot in there, because it is certainly not cheap. However, it does provide you with a good time.

The most famous clubs are:

Fuego – this is definitely the most popular and the best club in town. It works every day during the season, and from Thursday till Sunday the rest of the year. It offers Latin, pop and disco music. Then, Lazareti – this club offers electronic, techno and house music with live acts some nights of the week during the season. And, Revelin – which is really and cocktail bar and a restaurant which provides you with some great party time during the weekends.

Other popular nights and happenings are:

New Years Eve – when crowds of people come together in the main street and watch an open air concert. Dubrovnik Summer Festival – this is a very popular festival in Croatia, so many people come here to watch the opening ceremony and the festival itself. And of course the Bikers party – where thousands of bikers come and presents interesting biker activities, like burning tires, races or exhibitions.

With many cultural happenings during the summer months, Dubrovnik obviously has diverse offer of nightlife for young and those who still feel young. In the heart of the city, and outside the walls, there are clubs and bars that offer different kinds of music (if you are in the mood for a real party, you should visit Ultra Music Festival in Split), food and drinks for different tastes and party until morning hours. So, make sure you come to Dubrovnik and check what everyone is talking about.
