DAET, Camarines Norte — The municipal government here has formally launched the 22nd Pinyasan Festival which will commence on June 15 in time for this capital town’s 431st foundation anniversary and will last until June 24, on the feast of its patron, St. John the Baptist.

Daet Mayor Tito Sarion announced last May 5 this year’s Pinyasan Festival will host and showcase the 17th Bicol Cities and Urban Municipalities Sharing Conference on Good Governance on June 21-22 which will be participated in by the 10 local chief executives of the seven cities and three capital towns in the region.

Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has been invited to grace the event.

Sarion said that the sharing conference will serve as venue for sharing resources and good practices by the seven cities, along with the capital towns of Daet, Pili, and Virac, which have been included as urban capital towns starting this year.

The group will be spearheaded by Legazpi Mayor Noel Rosalwho is the incumbent president of the League of Bicol Cities which was initiated then by the late DILG Secretary and Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo.

Sarion said that Secretary Dinky Soliman of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was also invited to grace the opening ceremonies and the assembly of the beneficiaries in Daet of the PantawidPamilya Program.

He added that Senator Grace Poe will also be around  during the Pinyasan Float Competition and Pinya Carafest on June 19.

The Pinyasan Festival has been  conceptualized to create economic and tourism leap to boost the local industry to provide incentives for investments, with emphasis on the development of local pineapple industry and the town’s potentials as a major tourist destination.

Among the activities on the opening date are the thanksgiving mass and floral offering to the First Rizal Monument; Pinyasan 2014 opening program; opening of the BahayAnihan agro fair; Pinyasan dog show; opening parade with government agencies, military and schools; and best marching band and best marching CAT competition.

On June 16: Flag raising ceremony and presentation of candidates for Miss Pinyasan 2014; blessing and inauguration of Pinyasan fountain; Pinyasan photo and  exhibit; and society of art enthusiast workshop.

On June 17:Pinyasan padyak race; cooperative summit; GawadKalingaPinyasan build; Pinyasan food fair; Pinyasan cookfest; and awarding of the best Pinyasan souvenir item award.

On June 18:Pinyasan little angels; Kasalangbayan; Tertulia de Daet, Pinyasan Got Talent; and Dangal ng Daet Awards.

On June 19 will be the Pinyasan Job Fair; Pineapple peeling contest; Pinyasan DRR Olympics and Pinyasanginuman fest.

On June 20: 6th Daet on the Go Pinyasan National Dart Tournament; Pinyasan Job Fair; Miss Pinyasan, Miss Daet, Miss Tourism 2014 Beauty Pageant, and inter-barangay basketball tournament will be on June 20.

On June 21: The “pintahan” sa Pinyasan or tattoo competition; opening of the Bicol Cities and Urban Municipalities Sharing Conference; Pinyasan street dancing competition and fireworks display and  Pinyasan Star Express.

On June 22: Pinyasan Fun Run; Horse Racing competition; Pinyasan Strong Man competition; Ricky Lee script writing workshop, Larong Lahi; Barangay Night and Awarding of Ten Outstanding Tricycle Drivers of Daet.

On June 23 will be the Monday flag raising ceremony and awarding of Pinyasan decoration competition; 4th Mayor’s Cup Pinyasan Shootfest 2014; Balik-TanawsaPinyasan; PinyaKulinarya and Bikol Dance Sports.

A Pontifical Mass in honor of Saint John the Baptist will be celebrated on June 24, the town’s feast day.          PIA5/CamNorte
