BORONGAN, Samar — A group of 157 volunteers, which include doctors and nurses, wound up its medical and relief operations to the typhoon ravaged residents of this city and the municipalities of Balangkayan, Giporlas, Quinapondan, Balanginga, and Lawaan, all of Eastern Samar.

Aboard a 20-vehicle convoy, the mission proceeded to the areas aforementioned a few days immediately after supertyphoon Yolanda hit Eastern and Central Visayas last month, according to Naga City broadcaster Elmer Abad who was a member of the team.

He said the convoy consisted of 5 truckloads of relief goods and medicine, 4 water tankers, 3 ambulances, 1 gasoline tanker, 2 buses which transported the medical team, and 5 private vehicles.

The  mission  volunteers came from the following institutions: Mariners System, Philippine Medical Association (Bulacan Chapter) LGU Bulacan, LGU Legazpi, LGU Allen, Northern Samar, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, Kalayag Foundation Maynilad Water, RSL Shipping Lines, and Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) headed by Commodore Dante Jimenez.
