What’s the best strategy for success in any small business? The simple answer to that is to start first by identifying a need in the marketplace.

Ask any successful entrepreneur to share their startup story, and they’ll often tell you of a problem they or someone they know experienced. Look at Dollar Shave Club for example. Michael Dubin identified a consumer need – replacement razor blades that don’t cost a small fortune.

With most every problem, there’s an opportunity right?

That’s exactly how WeGoLook came to be founded back in  2010. Founder Mark Caywood ordered a home theatre systems online through an auction service, and upon receiving it, discovered it was no where close to the same condition as the seller had described.

What he realized was there were millions of other people just like him who go online to make a purchase, and end up being a victim of fraud or find themselves in the midst of a scam.

WeGoLook’s mission is simple: to provide a service that consumers can access at any time, regardless of their location, to verify an item, property, or person by dispatching a “Looker” on their behalf and providing them with a personalized and affordable report.

And what a great business model of using outsourced talent to grow your business!  WeGoLook has over 7,000 lookers across the country that will travel to inspect an RV, car or boat you are considering buying online; or maybe even a high end piece of industrial equipment for your business that you’re purchasing from eBay or Craigslist.

They’ll even inspect real estate for a buyer who’s unfamiliar with a neighborhood in another part of the country.

In this interview you’ll hear my interview with WeGoLook’s Molly K Allis.

She’ll be sharing the the story of how this company was founded, how they partner with qualified “Lookers” around the country, and the various services they offer for both online consumers and businesses.

More online business questions

B2B Membership Sites

Marc brings us a question about a b2b membership site that he’s wanting to launch:

I want to start a business to business membership site. Instead of this site being about me, I want to leverage the knowledge and experience of other people in the spa industry. That being said, I’d attract the potential members with:

expert podcast interviews

articles and guides

video courses

a discussion forum once I get enough members to contribute

Do you think it’s something that might work well for businesses like spa owners?

We’ll be sharing our thoughts on Marc’s question.

VooPlayer vs Easy Video Press

Nicholas brings us a question about a video software called “VooPlayer”. He’s looking at it as an alternative to Easy Video Suite, which we mentioned a couple of weeks ago. He’s looking for a software that easily uploads videos to Amazon S3, and then provides a custom player you can embed on your site.

We’ll be discussing VooPlayer along with another one of our recommendations – Easy Video Press, which is about the same price.

Converting .MP4 Videos to .MP3 Audios

Brian brings us a question on converting a video file to audio. He asks about a paid software he found that will easily convert it. We don’t link to this software because we wouldn’t recommend it. You don’t need any paid software for converting video files.

All you need is Handbrake.fr. We’ve used this program for converting video formats and it works great.

Enjoy the show and have a great week!
