Let’s talk about how to make your existing posts work for you!
You’ve published a post on your blog and maybe it did well or maybe you thought it might have done better if only Facebook liked you that day. In any case, its moment has passed and you’re wondering if it really reached its target audience or its full potential.
Guess what? There are plenty of sites that are more than happy to publish content that you have already published on your personal blog. I know this because I do it all the time! While it’s great to find time to write an original post for another site, most of us can’t do more than a few of those (at most) each month, due to time constraints and that little nagging thing called our own blog that also needs fresh content.
Take a look at some of our favorite websites that accept submissions of writing that has already been published on your own site.
1. Better After 50 - Though I have not submitted here myself, this site publishes an impressive 25 articles per week and has really great traffic/reach, meaning some awesome exposure if you contribute.

2. BlogHer – BlogHer is a frequent stop for me, both with submitting content for possible syndication (payment) and also for immediately cross-posting my existing blog posts for more exposure. The benefit here is that if they love a post, they may feature it, giving you even more exposure. I love that in a matter of minutes, you can get in front of their readers with your posts.

3. Bonbon Break – Another of my favorite places to both read and contribute, BonBon Break often selects submissions of existing posts to tease from their site, sending traffic directly to your site.

4. Crazy Good Parent – If any of your past posts address parenting with mental illness, consider submitting to Crazy Good Parent to find your ideal audience.

6. Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop – This is the humor blog component to the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop site. If it’s funny, this might be a good home for your post. The submission process is old school with a quick turn around.

7. The Good Men Project – Note: You may submit previously published work, but you must include all appropriate credits and links back to the original.

8. The Huffington Post – While many would argue that it’s easier said than done to get your work accepted on The Huffington Post, they DO accept writing that has already been published on your blog, so if you think it would be a good fit, what do you have to lose?
Wikipedia described The Huffington Post as “...a liberal American online news aggregator and blog…The site offers news, blogs, and original content and covers politics, business, entertainment, environment, technology, popular media, lifestyle, culture, comedy, healthy living, women’s interests, and local news.“

9. Mamapedia – Mamapedia is one of my go-to places when I know I have a piece that will be a really good fit. I don’t bug them with anything I am not sure will be a good fit. They are also a pleasure to work with and always seem to get commentary from readers. I find this to be a great place to publish things I have recently published on my own blog. Listen to the podcast linked below and submit via the Facebook group she mentions for best results.

10. Moms Magazine – I have not published here but was told by an editor that they are fine with previously published submissions as long as you hold the copyright, and it is still yours to publish.

11. Moms Who Write And Blog – A fairly new place to publish your parenting humor and more, this site is not picky about how recent your submission is and is eager to take great recycled content.

12. Power of Moms – This is also not a place I have personally published, but as with all submissions, you’ll want to let them know if you are submitting something previously published on their own blog so they can make any title changes or other tweaks (as some sites do).

13. Project: Underblog – One of my favorite sites, Project: Underblog promotes ‘small and mighty’ bloggers and is open to your previously published posts that were ideally posted to your own blog more than 30 days ago.

14. Scary Mommy – I had heard through the grapevine that Scary Mommy only took first run pieces, but when I interviewed founder, Jill Smokler, she said that they would indeed consider things you have previously posted to your own blog. Again, be sure to indicate this when you submit. They typically ask you to change the title and content slightly for SEO purposes.
