WordPress is one of the best Content Management System to create a site and so might have heard a lot about WordPress and came to know how easy it is to set up a website or blog through it. So finally you also decided to set up a WordPress website or blog. I have outlined below some of the steps, you need to carry out to set up a website or blog through WordPress software.
1. Getting hosting and a domain name
You need to buy hosting (space for your WordPress installation) and a domain name (a name for your website or blog through which people will recognize your website or blog).
2. Installing WordPress in your hosting
There are many ways through which you can install WordPress in your hosting account. One of the ways is through manually and the other one is with the help of auto-installers like Softaculous, Installatron, Fantastico etc. I am taking you through the process of installing WordPress through Softaculous.
You need to choose WordPress and then click Install button, after that you will need to choose your website name from the drop-down menu. You will need to enter information related to directory, database name, email address, blog title, user name etc. After that, you will need to click Install WordPress to complete the installation process. After some time, you will receive an email from Softaculous confirming that the installation of WordPress was successful.
3. Setting up WordPress Settings
You need to Login into the Admin area with the username and password sent to you by Softaculous in the email. After logging in you will reach the Dashboard area, where you will find many options which will let you customize your website or blog.
4. Change the Theme & Install Plugins
You can change the theme by clicking on Appearance -> Themes. After selecting the theme you can Preview it before installing. Install the theme and to make it active, you need to click “Activate” button.
You can also install plugins by clicking “Plugins” which is available on Appearance tab.
That’s all, your site is ready for the world to see.
