This past weekend I went down to the Casino in Cloverdale for the Totem T-Bird Cruise In and it is a really good location for a car show.

Lots of parking for both show cars and the public and some great restaurants very close by. I saw lots of neighbours’ cars on hand, as I live close by.

One car I had not seen yet was Don Reynolds’ Custom second-generation T-Bird with wild paint and interior. There were lots of T-birds, but only this one had been featured in Rod and Custom Magazine.

Ron Allegretto showed up with his red two-door hardtop 1965 GT and he has the full pull to choose from, also owning a 1965 convertible GTO and a 1965 two-door post GTO.

The BC Vintage Truck Museum had two trucks on display as they are located on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds right next to the Casino and Horse Race track. Randy Harris had his 1966 Cadillac Limousine — as big as a truck — that was bought new in Toronto for Corporate Livery Service. Weighing a hefty 5,620 pounds, she will still do zero-60 m.p.h. in 10 seconds.

At 8.9 m.p.g., she only gets 192 miles per tank — but does so with such panache!

This weekend, I am hoping to be stateside at the Vintage Car races at Seattle’s Pacific International Raceway. With the wealthy car enthusiasts in Seattle, you never know what amazing cars will come out to race.

At Waterfront Park on the North Shore, the BC Corvette Club will put on a Corvette-only show and just down the way at the Shipbuilders Square the Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society is hosting a car show. The

GVMPS inducts people from all types of motorsport in B.C. and every fall the induction is open to all gearheads to see the rich heritage of motorsport we have in B.C. If you are into cars but live downtown, you can SeaBus over to North Vancouver and back … then take the SkyTrain to Duecks show downtown … a win-win for all … and take a kid with you.
