NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGE TO BYLAWS

At the January 19th Board of Directors meeting, the Board agreed to submit a change to the Bylaws for approval by the membership at our February 16th Meeting/Seminar.  This change will provide for an electronic voting option for the Board of Directors and allow board members to vote on issues when they might otherwise not be able to attend a meeting. The proposed change is being published in the e-Blast/Leaflet and in the Scion prior to the meeting. If you have any comments or questions, please email President Jack Downey.
Proposed Change:  ARTICLE IV – BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors may vote by electronic means (i.e., email) when it is deemed necessary by the President of the Board of Directors or a majority vote of the Board of Directors. Paper copies of each individual vote will be retained by the Secretary and attached to the next monthly meeting minutes as a permanent file.  This Presidential authority should be used sparingly so as to not preclude effective and thorough board discussion of issues.

UTSA Student Garden

Our newest community garden will be comprised of six raised beds (40′ x 5′ in a 50′ x 50′ fenced enclosure.  Over 50 UTSA students are working on the project and are seeking Master Gardener mentors and teachers. Two objectives: (1) teach the students gardening practices from A to Z  (garden and classroom presentations), and (2) involve the gardening students in our community projects so they experience working in the community. We need volunteers and, especially a Garden Leader, preferably with experience in our on-going community or children’s gardens. Email Jack Downey, for more information.

MESSAGE FROM THE BCMG MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR!

Did you know . . . to get credit for attending the BCMG Monthly meetings, you need to report hours for project “CEUs – 003 BCMG Monthly Meeting.” Reminder: you should not record travel time for any CEU hours; travel time is related to all Volunteer activities.

Did you know. . . if you are entering time under “Continuing Education,” it needs to be applied to one of the projects beginning with “CEUs – 00___”.

Did you know. . . when entering Volunteer Time, you must also select from the drop down menu “Apply to Project.”  This will allow the Board of Directors to accurately track where YOU are spending your time in educating our community.

Lastly, did you know. . . as your Membership Coordinator, I appreciate you taking the time to enter your volunteer time in a timely manner.     Inez Ornelas
