This super easy craft takes no time at all and it would make a fantastic gift for a fellow lomographer (or for yourself)! Step right this way for a fun and easy DIY Lomography Snow Globe!
Since finishing my college year, I have found myself with a lot of time on my hands. Ordinarily, I would be pretending to study, while secretly browsing Lomography and playing the Sims. Now, I make snow globes! (I know, I need to get out more). The clasp of my baby Diana F+ Charm snapped, so this is a great alternative way to use it.
The best thing about these is that they’re very easy to make, but they look great and give the impression that I’ve been up half the night crafting away like a little elf, whereas really I have only spent about half an hour eating popcorn and getting super glue in my hair.
So, if you want to make your very own crafty ode to Lomography, here’s how in three easy steps!

Step One:
Assemble your ingredients. You will need:
Some cold, clear water
Assorted Glitter
Super glue
An empty jar (smaller jars are better because they are proportionate to the tiny charms)
A lomography camera charm
Newspaper or other scrap paper to use as a work surface
Optional: A rock or other small objects to prop up your charm
At this stage, you should also clean and thoroughly dry your chosen jar.

Step Two:
You’re going to glue the camera charm to the lid of your jar, but in order to make it the right height, you may choose to balance it on a rock or other object. I used the lid of a film canister and then a small flat pebble. Start by super gluing these components to the lid of your jar, one by one, taking care to let the glue dry after each one.
While the glue dries, use pliers, or brute force (!) to very carefully remove the keyring chain from your camera charm.

Finally, glue your baby camera onto the lid, at your chosen height.

Step Three:
Set aside your tools, and prepare to have glitter stuck to your face. It may be worth avoiding this part if you have a business meeting or fancy date in the near future. Glitter, although charming, can be very difficult to wash off!
To make the snowy effect, simply fill your jar with water and add about two spoonfuls of glitter, (I chose blue and silver to match my camera). You’ll need to leave room in your jar so that the water can be shaken – you don’t want a completely full snowglobe.
Once this is done, screw the lid onto the jar, being careful to close it tightly, and then turn it over, give it a shake, and you’re a fully fledged Lomo DIY’er!
Yes that’s popcorn, yes there’s glitter in it.
Congratulations! Now, go place your globe in a place of pride, and start trying to get rid of all that excess glitter!
