Dominik, better know as dopic in the Lomo community, is a graphic designer and photographer from Vienna, Austria who was given the rare opportunity to test the New Russar+ Lens. Here are excerpts from our interview.

What was your first impression upon using the Russar+ Lens?
When mounted on the camera it’s still very compact and easy to carry around. I also could not get my eyes off the nice chrome finishing.
What camera/s and film did you use the Russar+ Lens with?
I used a Leica M6, mostly color negative film with ISO 400.
What were your subjects when you tested the Russar+? How was the experience?
The New Russar+ travelled with me the past few weeks and I tried to capture everything around me. I am not used to shoot with wide-angle lenses so much. My personal hint: GO CLOSE!

What do you like most about the Russar+ Lens? Why?
First, that it’s compact; you can bring it to every occasion. Second, the great depth of field paired with the hyper focusing, makes focusing easy.
What did you find most challenging about using the Russar lens? How did you work around it?
Not having a compatible viewfinder on my analogue camera was a bit challenging for me, as I am the person who always wants to compose his photos and set the right frame. Later on, after shooting some rolls, you just switch to wide-angle mode in your head.
