Coming from Poland, this young lady just recently made a comeback in our Community. She has a fine line of film cameras and plan to expand it soon. Her Lomographs are pretty, too! Come and know more about this week’s newcomer, LomoHome mierzejewska!

Please tell us a little something about yourself.
I am a high school senior afraid of the future. I would call myself a self-destructive mass of contradiction because of the desire to be seen and simultaneous extreme timidity. I could spend whole days painting or living in my head. I am an artist-like person although I’m not fond of giving myself this name for one has to earn the title of an artist. And for me, this is still a long way to go. I am fascinated by human nature, works of Hermann Hesse, Charles Baudelaire, Buddhist philosophy of life, and the artistic emotional sensibility of Keaton Henson. I like peaceful, unique places, good music, and cherry cigarettes. Oh, and have I mention my bad luck? My beloved La Sardinia was stolen from me few weeks ago. :(
How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?
Actually, I discovered the website a few years ago when a desire to find a new passion awoke and I started buying films from the shop which I’ve found from searching the beast deals. I also created an account back then but never used it (therefore I forgot the password) and then a while ago, I created a new one. By uploading some of my photos and exploring the Community, I finally joined for good.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?
I think the ones that are applied in my life the most are #1, #3 and #6. To take the camera everywhere has become a natural action. I am aware that some chances for great photos can appear suddenly and no one can predict nor plan them. As I am a person who loves to capture unique moments, I need to have a camera in my bag anywhere I go. Hence, it obviously became a part of my life. And finally, to be honest, I don’t think that taking photographs is a matter of thinking but more of feeling. To be taking photos and at the same time thinking what exactly is going to be captured on film doesn’t go along.
In this digital age, why still film?
I think that in the beginning, it was some kind of a non-conformist revolt against the digital life. Moreover, I am a person who likes to complicate things and do more for it gives more satisfaction. So using digital cameras where all you need are to push the button and plug the device to the computer did not content me anymore.
After some time of using analogue cameras, one realizes that there is something they’ve captured that digital can never do. It is the uniqueness and the fleeting of the moments which later become memories.

As I have mentioned earlier, I struggle because of my personality. On one hand, I feel a great hunger for sensation, passion, and love. On the other, there is anxiety and low self-esteem which tells me to stay away from various situations and stay very, very distant which also makes it harder to establish new relationships. Therefore, I would use “How Soon is Now?” by The Smiths.
What are you looking forward to in our Community?
Meeting new people and finding inspirations through the capabilities of analogue cameras!
Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?
Minolta XG-1, definitely. Although I haven’t had it for a very long time, I’ve came to this point where I can talk about a ‘relationship’ between an item and its user. I know it may not be the most sane-mind-talking but it is a connection where one knows exactly how to use the camera without thinking about it.

What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?
I’m currently looking through online shops to find a fairly good offer of a Yashica Electro 35. I also wish of a Lubitel 166+ but this is a further plan.

This is my current favourite! I didn’t expect it to turn out like this. I filled a roll with background photos for double exposure and then re-loaded it but the frames didn’t cover precisely. However, It created an unique effect. I love the atmosphere of the city I live in by night, when I like it the most.
