RAM Pick-up sales are up 23% so far in 2014 in the US.

Every month on BSCB after going through US April sales we explore the year-to-date charts to try and extract longer-term trends. Thanks to a second consecutive strong month in April (+8%), the US market as a while is up 3% on 2013 after 4 months to 5.1 million units. I will comment on the brands ranking shortly, for now onto the models.
Will the 2015 model enable the Toyota Camry to climb back on the US podium?
Lots of change in the Top 10 compared to last year, with the only two vehicles holding onto their ranking being the Ford F-Series in the lead (+4%) and the Chevrolet Silverado at #2 (-4%). The RAM Pick-up is up two spots and a splendid 23% to third place at 133,580 sales, still above the Toyota Camry at 132,292. It’s going to be a tough fight for the Full Year 2014 third spot, and if the RAM manages to keep its ranking until the end of the year, it would make the US podium 100% pick-up truck for only the 2nd time in 20 years after 2003!
The Nissan Rogue is the biggest gainer in the Top 30 at +42%
Below the Camry, the best-selling passenger cars also experience quite a reshuffle: the Nissan Altima is now #2 and #5 overall thanks to sales 5%, passing the Honda Accord down 11% while the Toyota Corolla is up one spot to #7 (+2%), exchanging positions with the Ford Fusion (-3%). The Honda Civic and CR-V mechanically gain one spot, benefitting from the Ford Escape puffing a bit at -3%. Thanks to a new fuel-efficient engine, the Chevrolet Cruze is up 12% to #12.
The new model pushes Toyota Highlander sales up 23% this year in the US.
Further down, the best performers include the Toyota RAV4 up 20% to #15, the Nissan Rogue up an impressive 42% to #18 thanks to the new generation, the Nissan Sentra up 25% to #23, Toyota Highlander up 23% to #30, Subaru Forester up 54% to #32, Toyota Tundra up 18% to #41, Mazda CX-5 up 37% to #48, Nissan Juke up 68% to #80 and Lexus IS up 119% to #90.
Fiat 500L
10 all-new models have made their appearance in the US ranking over the past 12 months, but only one makes it into the Top 130 best-sellers so far in 2014: the Jeep Cherokee at #25 with 51,103 sales. It is followed by the Mercedes CLA at #131 and 7,704 units, the Mitsubishi Mirage at #162 with 5,116 sales and the Fiat 500L at #177 and 4,209 units.
