The South African new car market continues to satisfy this year, up 7% year-on-year in July to 58,140 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 379,881 units, also up 7% on 2012. The VW Polo Vivo (a facelifted previous generation Polo) delivers its 2nd consecutive month atop the models ranking thanks to 3,574 sales and 6.1% share. This is enough to earn it back the 2013 year-to-date top spot at 22,390 units and 5.9% vs. 22,303 for the Toyota Hilux, #2 this month with 3,159 sales and 5.4%.
The VW Polo ranks third as is the tradition at 2,618 units and 4.5%, followed this month by the Toyota Etios, lodging its 15th month in a row inside the South African Top 7, and the Toyota Corolla/Auris stable at #5. Further down, notice the Toyota Avanza up 10 ranks to #20, the Ford Kuga solid once again at #22, the Tata Indica/Indigo up 18 to #24, Toyota RAV4 up 11 to #27, Mercedes E-Class up 25 to #45, Mercedes A-Class up 18 to #46 and the Nissan NV350 (a rebadged… Toyota Hiace!) making its first appearance at #100.
