AURORA - Running With The Wolves

Waubonsee Community College"s Aurora Fox Valley campus will reopen for student services Friday.

The campus, formerly the Copley campus, closed for $4.8 million in renovations in December. Beginning Friday, students will once again be able to register or seek other services there, and fall classes are set to be held on campus.

The renovated campus, located at Aurora"s Rush-Copley Medical Center, will mainly house the college"s health care programs, including its emergency medical technician, medical assistant, nursing, and other programs. It will also house expanded student services, such as tutoring, library resources and testing services, and some general education courses.

The college announced in mid-March two of its four campuses now the Aurora Fox Valley and Aurora Downtown campuses would see name changes. The moves would "better reflect the distinct identities of and create consistency across all four of Waubonsee"s campuses," officials said in a statement at the time.

While closed for construction, the 30,000-square-foot Aurora Fox Valley campus saw partial renovations to the second floor and an overhaul of the first floor, which had been rented out in the past and will now be used for instructional and administrative space. It also received a new roof and heating and cooling units.

Most of the courses offered at the renovated campus will last eight weeks, though some will continue to be held in the traditional 16-week format, college officials have said.
