iConFactory grew from unconventional beginnings. As explained by founder and director Nicholas Lim, “We originally started in 2006 as an advertising firm. Because we were dealing with many clients who were event companies, we started to do a lot of interior work for booth designs and roadshows. Private interior designers was still a new concept in Malaysia back then, so we decided to specialise in interior designing to meet that growing niche. And it’s been our company’s focus ever since.”

Nicholas has a team of 6 in-house designers. He himself is a Product Design graduate from Parsons School of Design in New York. iConFactory has an established client base. Not only do they outsource their commercial interior design projects to Nicholas, but they have increasingly been requesting him to design their personal homes as well.

He added, “We get many projects through word-of-mouth recommendations from clients who are very familiar and satisfied with the work we’ve done for them. They are also aware of our advertising experience and we do offer packages at our client’s request for their corporate branding activities.”

Whether you need help designing a 100 sqft kiosk, 1000 sqft retail space, or a 50,000 sqft commercial project, the team at iConFactory has a broad range of design consultancy and project management experience to understand your vision and offer solutions to fit your budget.

Nicholas is proud that the company has evolved to be a one-stop-solution provider for interior design, building and creative services – the company lives by the belief that “It’s not just business, it’s passion.”‘

“It may surprise you, but many customers do not tell us what they really want, especially when it comes to what size budget they actually have. They are afraid we might treat them differently or turn their request down because of how small their project is. We definitely do not want them to feel that way and ask our customers to be honest with what they can afford and their design expectations – this will make it much easier for us to assess how we can work with them,” said Nicholas.

The larger commercial projects include other professional services in space design, building floors, lighting, as well as sourcing for materials and display items. Most recently, iConFactory has undertaken a design project for a listed company in Port Klang with an area exceeding 50,000 sqft, which includes the company’s warehouse and office facilities.
