Ricoh has introduced the much-anticipated Ricoh Pentax KP DSLR Camera with high-end features and specs. The camera has five axis in-body image stabilization and weather sealing, extreme low-light sensitivity and a pretty off-beat design. The impressive feature is a ridiculously high 819,200 ISO, a setting that would let you shoot with almost no light. The new body is dustproof and weather resistant, with a very compact design that’s smaller and lighter than the K-3.

The Pentax KP DSLR camera also adds a new generation of innovations including a new, highly sensitive APS-C CMOS sensor and is the first PENTAX APS-C camera to incorporate Shake Reduction II (SR II), which features a five-axis mechanism to compensate for camera shake up to 5 steps that’s the big upgrade.

The new 24-megapixel CMOS sensor enables shooting in extremely low-light conditions. The camera can only shoots 1080p video, only 27 autofocus points and a top speed of 7 still images per second.  The PENTAX KP features an electronic shutter option in live-view to enable high-speed shooting up to 1/24,000-second, The camera will perform in temperatures as low as 14 degrees F (-10 degrees C). The camera sports a 3 inch vertical tilt LCD monitor, which facilitates high and low angle shooting.

According to the company, the KP is the result of a complete internal redesign, which makes the camera smaller and slimmer than the K3 II, but maintains the tough weather sealing. It’s dustproof and can stand up to cold temperatures down to 14 degrees F.

The camera has not only the controls to be customized using programmable buttons, but photographer can actually choose among those three different grips depending on the size of owners hand and how owner prefer to hold the camera.

Apparently some weight was sacrificed for the battery, though, as it can only do 390 shots compared to 560 for the K-3. The Pentax KP DSLR will start hitting shelves at the end of February for $1,099.
