Jini Beauty is a bi-monthly subscription box that sends 6 to 8 full size and deluxe Korean beauty products, along with two sheet masks.  There are four boxes curated for different skin types: oily/acne prone, dry/mature, combination, and troubled/sensitive.  You select your skin type when you first sign up, and you can change it as often as you want afterward!  Today I’m reviewing the troubled/sensitive skintype box.

Jini Beauty – Sensitive/Troubled Skin

$44.95 per box, with free shipping within the US.  Shipping is $8 to Canada.

Jini Beauty also offers 6-month and 12-month prepay plans, with a slight discount per box.  You can also get a 1T (one-time) box of any skintype if you want to “test the waters.”  This is not part of the regular subscription.

Jini recently added a shop to their website as well, where you can purchase add-ons to your box.  These are products that were featured in past boxes, which you can include in your next subscription box for an extra cost.  You can purchase items from other skintypes, if you saw something you might like to try.

A helpful information card is included in every box.  It lists each product, the main active ingredient, and instructions for use.  Helpful, since a lot of the product packaging is in Korean!

Jini Beauty doesn’t do themes for their boxes, which I can kind of appreciate.  While it’s certainly fun to get a Christmas themed boxes in December, I feel like this allows them to send products that really work rather than select items just to fit a theme.

B-LAB I Am Sorry Just Cleansing Water – $2.49

I don’t know why, but I can’t stop laughing at the name of this product!  It just sounds so sad in a cute way.  I have never tried anything by B-Lab before, so I was excited to test this one out.  This cleansing water contains 92% aloe water and natural herb extracts.  It doesn’t feel oily or greasy, and has a light coconut-vanilla scent.  It did an okay job at removing my makeup: my waterproof eyeliner took quite a bit of rubbing, and it didn’t remove all of my mascara, so I would still recommend a separate eye makeup remover.  The info card says you don’t need to rinse after use, but I felt a little tackiness so I did anyway.  I probably wouldn’t use this on its own, but if you prefer to double cleanse without an oil cleanser, this is a nice alternative.  This cleansing water didn’t dry out my skin, which I really appreciate, and I like that it came totally sealed in plastic!

acwell Aquazene Effector – $22.90

Okay, wow.  I love this stuff, it might be my favorite thing in the whole box.  Again, I have never heard of or tried acwell before, but they have certainly caught my attention with this product!  The Effector contains Puritox Jin, which is “a Korean medicinal plant complex that normalizes, protects, and relaxes the skin from external stressors.”  It also contains centella asiatica extract to treat redness, which I have in spades so I’m already sold on this one.  The info card describes this as an essence, but it came out of the bottle as more of a white cream.  It smells amazing: fresh mint followed by a soothing herbal-cucumber scent.  The essence absorbed into my skin immediately, and left my face feeling powdery-baby-soft and smooth.  Seriously, you could use this as a makeup primer, my face was that smooth.  My skin felt moisturized all night long, and I couldn’t stop touching it!  Definitely going to have to get this as an add-on when I run out!

MEDIHEAL Petalpoten Hydrop Mask (Rose Essential) – $19.99

First of all, that packaging!  The design on the outside of the jar is so lovely, and Mediheal includes a little spatula to scoop out product.  This is a gel mask that you apply after cleansing and leave on overnight.  It contains rose oil and plant oil flower capsules, licorice root extract, aloe vera leaf extract, and morus alba bark extract.  That’s all to say it is very good at calming and hydrating sensitive skin.  I’m a sucker for rose anything, so I was ecstatic to pull this out of the box.  It’s a light pink jelly in the tub, with little pink flecks throughout (the “flower capsules”) that burst and release essence when you pat the mask into your skin.  There’s a light rose scent that goes away after a while.  It really does moisturize my face overnight, without taking forever to sink in and feeling greasy for ages afterward.  All in all, it reminded me quite a bit of Fresh’s Rose Face Mask, but at a nicer price point.  I’m really glad this was included in the December box, since I could use more hydration in these drier winter months.

klairs Rich Moist Soothing Sheet Mask – $2.00

This sheet mask is 100% organic cotton, with essence that contains nutrients, plant extracts, and hyaluronic acid.  It has been specially formulated to control oil and balance pH.  I was very happy to see that hyaluronic acid is actually the second ingredient listed after water on the ingredients list.  The sheet mask fit very well on my face, although to be honest I couldn’t feel too much of a difference between this 100% organic cotton and a normal cotton sheet mask.  There wasn’t a whole lot of essence, but what was there certainly did its job well: my face was smooth and hydrated afterward, with absolutely no redness or irritation.

JAYJUN Rose Blossom Mask – $1.99

Yes!  A rose sheet mask!  This one contains rose centifolia flower water for soothing and calming, and hydrogenated lecithin for moisture retention.  The sheet was drenched in essence – like a LOT.  Even after I removed it, I had a lot left on my face to pat in.  The sheet was a light brown color and smelled nicely of roses.  My skin was left moisturized and non-irritated, and I thought the scent was very relaxing, so overall a pleasant masking experience!

ETUDE HOUSE Honey Jelly Lips Patch (Moisturizing) – $1.50

A lip patch!  In spite of how much I love any kind of mask, I have yet to try lip patches.  This couldn’t have come at a better time though, because my lip officially cracked today from the dry winter air.  This patch contains honey, propolis, and royal jelly for extra hydration.  It smelled strongly of honey, with a little bit of a fruity touch.  The essence was quite moisturizing and tacky, and the hydrogel patch felt cooling on my skin.  Unfortunately, I picked a day when I had a cold to try this, so I felt like I was suffocating the whole time since you can’t breathe through your mouth!  The patch also slid around a lot and had to be readjusted, and the fit meant that mainly the outer edges of my lips touched the patch.  It was a fun product to try, but I don’t think it will replace my lip balm.

ETUDE HOUSE Honey Cera Creamy Body Wash – $0.88

This body wash smells deliciously like honey!  It’s a very warm and comforting scent.  It foamed up well on a loofah, and didn’t dry out my skin at all!  My skin felt very soft and smooth afterward, no soapy-squeakiness here!  I love that these were deluxe samples of body wash and lotion: I like to save these for when I travel, and body wash and lotion samples are a little harder to come by than face creams and moisturizers.

ETUDE HOUSE Honey Cera Creamy Body Lotion – $0.88

I really appreciate that Jini sent the matching body lotion with the body wash.  This lotion has the same scent as the Honey Cera body wash, and contains honey for its moisturizing properties.  This was a light lotion that hydrated my skin well and was a staple for traveling to my parents’ house, where the indoor heating leaves my room very dry.

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel (foil packet)

Nature Republic Shea Butter Steam Cream (foil packet)

These two foil packets were not included on the info card, so I think they were bonuses.  I’ve tried the Benton aloe before, and it’s a good standard aloe that you can use for moisture or to soothe minor irritations.  I haven’t tried Nature Republic’s shea butter steam cream before, but I have tried a different steam cream and I loved it.  They are formulated at higher temperatures using steam technology, which allows the key ingredients to be more effective.  Shea butter is a great inclusion for the winter box!

Overall, another great box from Jini Beauty!  My review for this one has been slightly delayed due to the holiday season and personal stuff, so I have gotten plenty of time to test out these products.  The acwell effector and the Mediheal rose mask have become a part of my evening routine, and are two of my favorite discoveries from this box.  I haven’t really seen them elsewhere, so it’s important to me that Jini has introduced me to something not as well known!  Everything else proved very useful during the holidays when I traveled, as they were the perfect size to take on the go.  Jini has consistently great curation, and with a value of $52.63, it’s certainly worth the cost.  I definitely recommend this subscription to anyone who is interested in Asian skincare and is looking for expert recommendations on higher quality products.
