Loot Crate is a monthly geek subscription box that often includes figurines, collectibles, and T-shirts.  It costs $13.95 + $6 shipping per month, with discounts for longer subscriptions.  Each month has a different theme.  Every month, it comes in a black box with the Loot Crate logo that can be turned inside out and folded into something related to the theme.  The size varies depending on what’s in the box.  Each month, they send out a survey asking subscribers to rate each item and provide suggestions for future boxes.  They also release digital content each month related to the theme, such as a mini-game, puzzle, or trivia.

This is a review of May’s Loot Crate.

Here are all the items in this month’s box.  This month’s theme is Power.  This month’s box includes items from Marvel Comics, Warcraft, Battleborn, and Dragonball Z.

Each month’s box can be turned inside out or otherwise folded into something related to the box’s theme.  It isn’t clear what you’re supposed to do with this box.  The back of the magazine has some not-very-clear instructions and I couldn’t find anything related to folding this box when I searched online.  I tried to figure it out, but the images on the box make more sense with the box left “as is” than anything that I could do with it, so I returned the box to its original state for this picture.  If anyone knows how to fold it, let me know!

Each box includes a magazine that includes descriptions of all of the items, as well as interviews with the Loot Crate staff and other things. Look at that Hulk!

Here’s the magazine opened to a random page.

Hulk Q-Fig (QMx) – I’m guessing it’s meant to be part of a scene with the box.  This is a nice addition to my collection of vinyl figures (which includes mostly Funko Pops but also a few other assorted brands).  I like the detail and the “smashing the ground” effect. Lootcrate has sent a few Q-figs in their crates.

Wonder why you didn’t spot the Hulk in Captain America: Civil War?  Because Loot Crate grabbed him and put him in this month’s crate!  We have a hulk.  This epic figure crushed every other candidate and is notable for its detailed facial snarl and the raw, kinetic power of its stance.

Exclusive Warcraft T-Shirt (Legendary) – At first, I didn’t recognize the characters as being from Warcraft, but after looking at the silhouette design for a while I think it’s pretty interesting.  I like that the design is a little more subtle than a lot of the other T-shirts I’ve seen.

Channel your inner Horde or Alliance with this authentic, licensed silhouette design chosen to celebrate the film’s release!

Exclusive Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitt (ICUP, INC) – I’m not really familiar with the Infinity Gauntlet, but it looks awesome.  This is the second cooking-related wearable from Loot Crate (the first was a Los Pollos Hermanos apron from a few months ago). I love them btw!!

Whether cooking or cosplaying, it is said this magical mitt will grant you omnipotent powers beyond belief!  Or at least protect you from burning yourself.  Decorated with the six Infinity Gems, the mitt protects hands up to 500 degrees.  Fine, I’ll bake it myself!

Exclusive Dragon Ball Z Shenron Plush Keychain (Surreal Entertainment) – This is huge for a keychain lol. I really like the design though. I remember those years that all the boys around me were so obsessed with Dragon Ball and I traded those collectible cards in snacks with the guys to get my sailormoon ones haha.

We summoned Shenron from the raging fires of the Earth’s core and wished for our first ever Dragon Ball Z item.

Battleborn Pin – Not my favorite pin from Loot Crate but certainly not bad.  The DLC “unlocked” by this pin is a crate containing some rare items in Battleborn.  We might try Battleborn sometime, but it’s pretty expensive ($60, although right now it’s on sale for $36 on Steam), so this isn’t something you can just try out because you got it in Loot Crate, like the comic book from a previous month.

Styled after one of Battleborn‘s AI minions, wear it proudly to celebrate your in-game victories (or just because robots are cool)!

Overall, I think this is a good month for Lootcrate. I like the theme and the variety of items. This is the first month in the past a few months that I will keep and use everything. June’s theme is Dystopia. What would be in next month box?
