Go go gadget copypasta: Go go gadget copypasta (sometimes I amuse myself har har) : Loot Anime is one of the newest offerings from Loot Crate, proprietor of all things geeky. In addition to the anime version, they have their classic crate (more geeky/sci-fi/fandom), a pets crate, lvl up accessories, and the newly released gamer crate. Each Loot Anime contains a shirt which has run comically small until now, probably after numerous complaints (I’m guessing, but if you’ve read my reviews you know I’ve ALWAYS hated the sizing). In the past this box has been plagued by shipping delays though the April box arrived rather early… which early in LootCrate time is always at the beginning of the following month. March’s box was delayed several weeks causing them to arrive within days of each other, hence the back to back reviews.

Each box is centered around a different theme, usually something to do with a specific anime genre or trope. April’s is Music. I tend to enjoy anime though I’ve not seen many of the mainstream ones so forgive my ignorance on some of these.

Each box comes with a giant poster that is absolutely impossible to photograph. Also included is a charm, this months being special because it has a connection to an online game. We gettin’ interactive!

Show By Rock Earbuds
Practical item = YASSS honey. Cute anime bishonen = mHMMM. Show By Rock is a rhythm game that originated on mobile before being turned into an anime. I can’t say I know what it’s about considering I’d never actually heard of it before today, but hey, I’ll take earbuds emblazoned with cute anime guys any day. All the characters seem to have animal ears too so… I am intrigued. I can only assume it’s an anime relating to music, using my amazing powers of deduction there.

Light Up Leek
The info poster says to use the leek at a concert in place of a glow stick. Honestly all I think of when I see said leek is this meme from Bleach:

Leeks make their way into anime all the time, including in one of my personal favorites, Fruits Basket. I can’t say I ever see myself using this (don’t find too many vegetable themed raves here in the mid-Atlantic) but it does fit the music theme because Hatsune Miku is frequently seen with a leek as a parody of the above gif.

Vocaloid x tokidoki Lanyard
I love tokidoki! Ah their collaborations make me so happy.

The lanyard itself is so soft, it’s not like the type of scratchy acrylic yarn that will damage your neck, it’s more of a soft cloth. I’ll proudly wear this to Tsubasacon in October.

Your Lie in April
I haven’t read this yet but I am absolutely loving the description:

“Piano prodigy Kōsei Arima dominated the competition and has become famous among child musicians. After his mother, who was also his instructor, died, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a piano recital at the age of twelve. As a result, he is no longer able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing is perfectly fine. Two years later, Kōsei hasn’t touched the piano and views the world in monochrome, without any flair or color. He has resigned himself to living out his life with his good friends, Tsubaki and Watari, until, one day, a girl changes everything. Kaori Miyazono, a fourteen-year old audacious, free-spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her manic personality, helps Kōsei return to the music world and shows that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kōsei was used to.”

It’s also been made into an anime and will have a live movie adaptation. Considering the anime has one of my favorite voice actors as the lead (Max Mittelman) I MUST WATCH THIS. The manga has also won an award as best manga for the year, and nominated for several others. I feel like I’ve stumbled onto something beautiful.

Hatsune Miku Travel Blanket
When you hear “travel blanket” it basically means that it’s small and thin, making it compact and prime for traveling. I absolutely LOVE the art on this blanket, it’s just so gorgeous and vibrant.

Plus it’s a blanket, and you all know my love of practical and functional merchandise. It feels like fleece; not enough to make you toasty warm but enough to keep you from being devastatingly cold.

HyperSonic Music Club Shirt
LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THE SIZING HAS IMPROVED! CAN I GET AN AMEN IN HERE

So HyperSonic Music Club is Crunchyroll’s new digital manga:

“In the world of tomorrow… when technology has reached it limits… a group of young cyborgs must battle the extra-dimensional monster girls for final control of the enigmatic force known only as…The Mystery Frequency!”

While the art is beautiful and I really like the shirt, the premise just isn’t one I’m interested in. Plus, to access said manga you have to have a Crunchyroll subscription. The shirt is cotton and thankfully not Gildan. It’s very large and spacious and I’m honestly thrilled they’re actually sending adult sizes now. Baby steps.

This was probably one of my most loved Loot Anime’s yet, mostly because of the functionality of the products – none of them felt like “junk filler,” except maybe the leek, but that depends on perspective. I’d love it if Loot Anime kept up these types of boxes because they’re very well done and filled with items that are not only useful, but beautiful to look at. That manga… omg. I am legitimately excited about that manga and I’m sure it’s going to have an amazing story considering how wildly praised it is.
